Hi,
First the good news, as a mac user I actually managed to actually get Incarna to load and enter my captains quarters :)
Now the bad news, the FPS were really really bad :( ranging from 5fps to 10fps at optimised low settings, everything set to low! My machine does not have the greatest graphics card (and as it's an imac so it cant be upgraded). Therefor if the FPS is always going to be that slow Eve will be un-playable unless there is an option for us to keep our station spinning. I could not see any option not to load the station background either.
So now instead of looking forward to the release, I am waiting intrepidation of Incarna.

I was planning on switching this off anyway as I can't see the point in it tbh - sad to hear that it's not going to be possible.

I think they have not yet clicked the "optimize" box on the compiler. Compiling a code with the optimizer running takes alot longer, si they most likely delay that until the TQ deployment. So hopefully we will get more fps.
Otherwise, Im not sure low fps can be considered a "bug", but anything stopping you from playing the game can be bug reported.

They released a new version of Incarna on Sisi. But it does not work for me on my MBP. As soon as it tries to load the station environment, it crashes. If my pilot is docked, it crashes on entering the game. If the pilot happened to be logged out in space, it crashes on docking.
CCP: I have bug reported it, with a Cider trace log.
Anyone else get it to work?

I run a completely separate client with its own prefs file (which is now in the "application support" folder).
I also get the Sisi client by a full download of the client, as I got a big pipe here and it takes just a few tens of minutes.

FPS is really really horrible on the login screen of incarna (can't login yet!) If this is any indication of how it's gonna be i guess i'm gonna need another game to play.
My iMac: 27inch, 2550x1440 8GB ram Core2Duo 3.06Ghz HD4670, 256MB
Stuttering screen, FPS flew up and down from 2 to 30 fps. Find me... http://meandmymac.net |

Well... I repeatedly did the ctrl-V pword thing and got in. CQ is totally inoperable at <10fps- so I turned it off. I really appreciate CCP allowing us to turn off CQ. I might keep it if it worked. looks nice enough. I undocked, however, to find SPACE as slow as being docked.... not good not good at all I didn't crash immediately though, which is more than I can say for the last few patches.

Edited by: Zae''dra Xanthe on 22/06/2011 00:52:31 Well, I managed to get past the login screen. FPS were horrific on my MBP, so I had to adjust the graphics settings to their lowest and got it a "little" up to speed. So, I undocked and the game crashed. All of the times I tried to re-enter the game while my ship is in space, the game simply got stuck on the "Entering Space" dialog. No way in hell I'm buying a PC just to run a game. Please fix it guys.

The patch they released was broken. The sticky thread suggests to download the full client.
Also Mandrake made a micro patch that fixes the client if you have broken it by patching. --- I don't know! I don't know why I did it, I don't know why I enjoyed it, and I don't know why I'll do it again! Bart Simpson. |

I could not get it to work either. I tried to download patch, and after time passes and the download finishes, it gives me a failure for verification.
So I went and tried CCP Mandrakes patch fix. It seemed to try to download just fine, but then when the app tried to apply it, is gave me an error saying that the version I had was invalid.
From the reports I have read so far, I am reluctant to load the entire new client since that does not appear to be 100% fix either.
I guess I cannot play until this is fixed. I am patient, and very understanding, however, I want my days refunded that I cannot play. (not to mention the time I am losing in training que right now.
Waiting for a REAL fix !!!!

Update to my previous post: I managed to fix the problems, and Eve now runs smoothly both in station and in space. Just optimize your settings for performance, uncheck that "disable lod" thing and play around with the shader / anti-aliasing quality. Alternatively, setting your texture quality to "medium" will do the trick...
One thing I don't understand though... same game on same Mac ran in bootcamp with WinXP installed runs everything on the max levels without any problems. This shouldn't be the case...

Well im unnable to connect. Tryed patchig == 0 Downloaded client 3 times == 0
On end im not able to even start the game, i click on icon, see incarna log in screen than happens nothing. Saw on EVE gate few of my corp mates decided to stop trying... ranging from win XP, win 7, mac ... Only from my corp about 8-10 accounts stopped. I decided i wont even try anymore and use this to stop playing this too addictive game.
For more than year and half didnt saw hisec nor stations and wow walking in them cut this game experience :P Thats awesome! Barbie addons with clothing characters i wont even mention.. Well on end could only add this question to CCP: was it worth?

Even with station environment turned off, it lags to hell. I know the GPU isn't great but I also wasn't expecting it would be this bad given it's not that old a model.

Edited by: Debir Achen on 23/06/2011 03:06:54 tl;dr: near-photo quality, near-photo performance
On my Mac: (which, FWIW, is specced above "recommended" specs. Not far, but definitely above)* - patch destroyed all my saved config, including bookmark folders, window position, overview settings - CQ sluggish, but animates OK when moving. - noticeable stuttering on session change. Been like this since recent Incursion 1.0.6 upgrade. - too much black in UI. I liked the blue; had a nice contrast with space. But space is white and black, brackets are (mostly) white and black, and now all the other interface stuff is - you guessed it - white on black. It all fades into each other. - text controls lag badly, and cursor selection field behaviour is unpredictable - science & industry window either doesn't open from neocom, or opens and then doesn't respond to clicks - window opening noticeably lagged, especially planetary industry - disabling CQ makes almost no difference to performance. Also throws me slightly when I try to drag background and it does nothing.
I wonder if it's possible to upgrade to Tyrannis 1.0.2? Every patch since then seems to have klutzed up some aspect of performance (although I do prefer the new PI).
* Update: that was two days ago. New "recommended" specs are much higher, but I'm still well above minimum.

Playing on an iMac Pro 13" lap top. Not the optimum gaming machine but it works well enough. My only issue right now is that opening the star map crashes me to desktop pretty much every time. Opening the scanner map does too about 30% of the time. Very frustrating.

I've had awsome results with my hack.
Q6600 @ 3.2ghz/4gb/Radeon HD6870
Following settings:
Fullscreen 2048x1152 Multithreaded OpenGL = yes Interval = 1 Texture Quality = High Use LOD = yes Sun Occluded = off Pysical Clothes = off (only becuase I read there is a bug in it) HDR = off Antialliasing = Low Post Processing = Low Shader Quality = High Texture Quality = High LOD = High Interior = Med
With these settings I'm getting a solid 50 - 60 FPS in QC when not moving. When walking around like to the hangar and back to the couch between 32 - 55 fps (average 40fps).
In space I get a solid 55 - 60 FPS (all effects on) even around lots of other shops and objects like a POS. Looking forward to testing more in a large fleet.
One fact I found very intersting is that when I go to Windowed Mode at 1600x900, I actually loose 10-20fps across the board. Not sure why that is. In past clients, windowed mode would provide a small boost.
Anyway - Great job CCP and Thanks.

Eve settings all low!
CQ - well I haven't really played with this part as it's so slow that I turned it off. In space - FPS are all over the place, ranging from 2 FPS to 60 FPS
This is not playable IMO

Just an update I made the following changes as per Space Lords post;
Window Mode 1600x900 (just what i use at work) Multithreaded OpenGL = yes Interval = 1 Texture Quality = High Use LOD = yes Sun Occluded = off HDR = off Antialliasing = Low Post Processing = Low Shader Quality = High Texture Quality = High LOD = High Shadow Quality = Low Interior = Med
And I can now turn CQ back on without issue, and all the lag I had before with CQ off is gone.. this is a 1000% improvement.

I too have huge performance problems after incarna.
iMac C2D 3.06Ghz 8GB Ram ATI 4670 (ish) 256MB @ 2550x1440 (27inch)
I used to be able to play with Med/low settings. Now on all low and all turned off dumbed down graphics it wont go over 5FPS and that's on the login screen!
Since my keyboard won't respond ingame either i can't even log in! (got a petition) Yes it's a stock Apple Keyboard which works fine for everything else. Not it didn't break!
Fix this game, make a native client if you have to. But this is unacceptable! Find me... http://meandmymac.net |

Update: Maybe a bit drastic, but I decided to delete all Eve files and download the full client. With my saved preferences copied across everything is running well and I get any where from 30 through 60 FPS, and that's with medium graphics settings. I feeling better about Incarna now
