Does anyone get an annoying bug where by whenever you pop an npc rat your bc stops and does a 360 degree turn. This is very annoying especially if you're trying to allign for warp at the time.

I've noticed this also on several occasions. When flying away from npc rats (to keep distance), my BS sometimes stops does a 360 and continues flying.

I had this too, sometimes flying to a can. Weird, but not game-breaking :)

I think I know what you mean.
Are you sure it's not caused by using "keep at range" or "approach". The ship stops once you pop the targeted npc as there is then nothing to navigate approach or keep at range. I can't explain why the ship then turns, I had a hunch it aligned to the camera drone but that doesn't seem to be the case.
It is a royal pain when you are flying something that takes a while to turn or accelerate.

Lo jim
This has happened to me as jim knows! Lost my raven during a ds mission because of this!
Basicly what happens is you warp into a roid belt or your ds complex whatever..turn your ship to fly away from your target and allining with a warpable object for that fast warp out if needed, and what happens?...your ship is flying in straight line quite happily then suddenly it decides to do a 360 degree turn without you even toughing the controls.
This happen to my ship while in ds,was loosing my tank and was down to 20% shields and little cap left. So was going to warp out in 20 seconds...10 seconds later my ships decides to do a 360 turn ..and as i was being webbed i had no chance to re allign with anything before it was popped! annoying to say the least!
Argh juggs!

I had this happen as well - just a hunch: were you shooting the rats with missiles by any chance? |

I thought that was just your crazy drunken piloting. While im glad generally its not ~much~ of a problem it is somewhat annoying in a gameplay perspective, i will try and repreduce it and file a bug report.

yes didnt think that would have an effect but both biggibs and I fly ravens when soloing lvl4 missions, perhaps thats an issue, i will have to test this further in a apoc to see if i get the same results.

My guess would be that this happens when you are moving away from the spawn and two things coincide: a volley of missiles/torps hits the rat you were targetting and kills it, just as another volley is being fired from your launchers. The fresh missiles are fired and immediatelly lose lock, moving in a random direction, and your ship "bumps" into them, loses speed, spins round and only then resumes on its previous course. It's only a guess, but it would explain this behavior. |

it could be a missile movement issue - something for CCP to look at if it can be repeated and bugged reported

This is dead on. Defenders will sometimes stop in front my ship if the last enemy missile is destroyed by another defender. It no longer has a target so does nothing. I am sure my heavy missiles are doing the same exact thing. This causes my ship to go to zero speed because I bump into the missile.
A possible change is to set up the missiles so that they exit from the bottom of the ship and instantly move in the direction of the target.

Hmm that seems to be the most reasonable explanation to me, missiles shouldnt really bump ships around at all imho, turrets dont..
I think a good solution to this would be to make missiles fire at a constant speed for a few seconds befor heading to there target or something.
That way if the target was destroyed they'd be far enough away not for you to bump into them, oc some balanceing would be needed but missiles need balancing anyway
