Edited by: Relnala on 30/05/2011 01:25:09 What I want is rather simple, if the server loses connection with the client, simply activate all hardeners / boosters on the ship during emergency warp. That way the ship has a chance to survive during emergency warp if they're running some sort of PVE encounter.
This seems like a pretty obvious need for CCP to implement, with random disconnects and a rather "who cares about the customer's time" related reimbursement policy. I'm tired of losing ships because I happen to DC when my booster is off.
If you have a pulse tank, and happen to DC for any reason (its funny how I'll DC every now and then but everything else works on my connection, but CCP says its on my end) during a lvl4 mission of consequence, you're almost guaranteed to lose your ship unless you're A) massively overtanked with a permaboost/rep setup, or B) running a passive shield tank.
And for what its worth, from an RP standpoint, I'm sure your ship crews are smart enough to engage some defensive systems if the captain takes a nap in the middle of a fight.

What about the ships that log when they hit gate camps? There's no way to differentiate between disconnects and logging so you'd be making the logoffski a more useful tactic no?

The logoffski stopped being effective years ago. If you're still losing kills to loggoffskis because you bring bad tackle, I'm sorry but its not like you were going to catch them in the first place if they had a brain.
Also, you could set it so that they only activate if you're being targetted at the time of disconnect, or it won't function if you're cloaked at disconnect. I couldn't care less.
But seriously... people successfully logoffski you?

Not what I said at all, I was simply postulating an argument and your solution, which is ineloquent imo, was not posited in the original post, hence my reply.
Still, much as I feel for your loss, whatever it was, my advice is kill the scram frigates first or find yourself a better ISP...
I'm sure there are only a tiny number of cases per year where the pilot was dumb enough not to primary the scrammers (and keep in mind mission triggers if the room is already full), got DC'd AND couldn't log back in in time to save their ship. Not worth Dev time when they have a long list (so they say) already.

How do you tackle somebody, without a bubble, who is invincible to ECM upon disconnect?

It's a valid tactic.
Also, I'd love for Supercapitals to logoff and then the server automatically activates their hardeners for them.
