I have just reactivated my account after a bit of a break from eve. Before I took that break I let my Son play a character on my account. I now log on to find that my Son had mistakenly deleted my main Character. Is there a way for CCP to resurrect my character, or is it dead forever and ever and ever?
and ever.

Your probably out of luck, but the way to find out is via a petition rather than the forums.

Uhm, i think ccp's policy on this is that they can restore the charecter but with an empty wallet and no assets what so ever.
But ehhh , You might have spoiled it by mentioning you share your account .. thats a big nono .. would delete your post and petition without the specific info that your son deleted the char...

the account sharing rule is not there to punish families its not even there to punish alliances who want round-the-clock titan bridging or even to punish alliances that need the right characters in the alliance tournament especially when it is to make sure tournament winnings end up in alliance hands
so go ahead and ask via petition you will be fine

The lad just wanted to try the game out, and seeing as I had a few weeks left before my sub ran out I let him have a try, telling him he could delete this character to make one of his own. Unfortunately with my main and this character having similar names he went and deleted the wrong one. Anyway he liked it that much he went on to having his own account and plays up to this day.

About a year back on a previous account I had a character restored, can't remember if the assets were recovered or not but I don't think you'll have a problem if you petition it.

You should ransom his ship and pod so you can buy a new character IMO

I'm sure I can dig up that old thread where I asked about family account sharing.
It came down to not being punished if you let your wife play on your account since you legally share financial responsibly.
So I think you'll be fine mate. If you need me dig up that old dev reply I'll be glad to go hunting. o7

I dont think accout sharing or anything of the ilk will hamper you.
The real issue will be if the character has been washed. Normally deleted items remain in the system for a set amount of time, once they are cleaned (deleted) from the DB then they are simply gone. ----------- Never Forget the joy of finding a main to link to a scammer alt. N-y-p-h-u-r ! ! |

the big question is : how long ago it was ? deleted char are on the hell corp for a few months, then are really deleted from database... so first check if char still exist by doing a search on his name IG. if he's still here, you can have it back for sure if not, i dunno if there's a solution :/

Translation for the reading-comprehension-impaired: Valoure is not his main, he told his son he could delete Valoure and on the home screen the kid got confused and deleted the wrong character that was not Valoure.
Yep petition it.

AFAIK every deleted character that ever existed on a subbed account can be restored.
That might not be the case for part of 2003 but it is possible to get characters back which were deleted in 2004.
You'd need a reason to get CCP to do the restore and it sounds like the OP has a valid reason.
I think any iskies you had will get restored but I don't think any items will as the database ID number for them (was 32 bit, now 64 bit) has more than likely been reused so there's unlikely to be an audit trail to follow.

I don't mind the loss of wealth and possessions, it's more all the time I put into gaining those skill points, and as you may know, you do tend to get attached to your character.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The first example (family sharing) was the way I understood it, so I too would encourage the OP to petition it.
However: I'm surprised anybody thinks it's OK for alliances to (or corporations?) to share "service" characters, including this round-the-clock titan example with multiple players cycling through the same account. Does CCP also think this is OK? Do corps commonly share a freighter pilot or mining foreman, and would CCP be OK with that?
Is this common practice?

Yes. Especially for titans, motherships and logistics. |

ive never got above junior grade peon absolute nobody level in a few moderately successful alliances not a single alliance i have been in is playing the game by the rules
the "banning" rule in the alliance tournament was absolutely going to require that alliance use account sharing more than they already will have to
im ok though i dont have to give up my alliance account for the tournament because if they used it and we won the prize would be in my hangar and the alliance cannot bear that thought since i am just peon grade but if our next match is in the right time zone i may be required to use somebody elses account we shall see
but having said that maybe i just got really unlucky with my alliances but somehow i seriously doubt it
i could change the password on the account i am assigned and cause a ruck but ccp ban whistleblowers that bring evidence to the table we have seen this a dozen times before i aint doing a thing to rock the boat
