Ok without going into too much detail, I'm graduating with my Bachelors, and want to apply for a new Network Security Masters degree when the college accepts the first round of applications in September with the start being in January. Between then and now though I lose my college job though as it requires me to be in college.
I plan on keeping the accounts going on plex until I run out of isk then let them fall dormant. Is using the account cancellation option the way to get it to quit billing my card? It says that it will suspend my account when the current time I have runs out. Will it auto adjust if I activate a plex before that date?

Basically, if you "cancel" your account it just means that your card won't get billed when your account time runs out. Then it becomes your obligation to extend your game time with PLEX.

I'm not quitting, and I fully intend on coming back if i do run out of isk over the six month waiting period if I do get accepted. I would say that I should be able to make a bil and a half a month or whatever the ever rising plex costs become. But i will be on dialup the whole time until I either get accepted and move back to the college or get denied and frantically find a job to start paying my loans. Either way im gone for six months, maximum.
Thanks Black.

Not unreasonable to make sure that his card will not continue to get drained by CCP. They can't program the game right and their attempt at forums was an abortion. What makes you think they wouldn't **** up the cancel button? ----------------------------------

I didn't want to really cancel the account though. Just kill the recurring subscription and switch to plex only. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask if there is a method to do so other then using the account cancel button as the change method of payment option that is not recurring is the use ETC option that reqires you to put one in at the time of switching. And the cancellation button says it suspends but doesnt say anything about that date being extended if plex is used. I figured it was implied but thought it didn't hurt to ask and make sure I wasn't missing something.

All your professors should be fired if you ask questions like that uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹnʇɐuƃıs ʎɯ ƃuıpɐǝɹ ǝɹɐ noʎ |

Well, basicaly. What the option of canceling your subscription does, is to remove your credit card as a billing method. When the period you have already paid for ends, account goes inactive since there is no longer paid for a logner period.
However, if you buy a PLEX and use it, that will extend the pre-paid period and as such extend the time before the game going inactive. The same goes if you don't cancel the subscription but buy and use a PLEX. That just means it's one extra month before your card is billed again.
In reality, the cancel subscription option is only relevant to those who have a recurring credit/debit card payment plan and doesn't end your account or characters.

Canceling your account is nothing more than putting it on hold (whether temporarily or permanently). Why would you want to PLEX your account and waste away your ISK (regardless of how fast you can make it back) for any amount of time? Just cancel, let your sub timer run out, and come back when you want to play. You're applying for a Masters degree and this is a difficult problem?

thats how I did it, it was confusing, i'm pretty sure that it overrides the automtic renewal warning it doesn't make you do that with accounts activated with plex, the dialogue does make it feel like you are cutting ties, not changing billing method
you do get a chance to rant about the reasons you are cancelling in the why you are leaving box without actually leaving though

May want to keep the skills training. I know I would, if I should ever want to (or have to) take a break.
