Not sure if this is an Eve issue or a computer issue, but it only started happening after the latest update. I have several accounts, typically running 3 Eve clients at once. I have done this for months with no issues. Today, after installing the latest patch, the client has started crashing when running multiple versions (typically the third client I openned). I am not sure if this is related or just coincidence, but it has always happened when moving a character around using auto-pilot
Please help!

From what I can tell so far it doesn't seem to be related to multiple clients, it seems to be related to minimizing clients. Using windowed mode while you have multiple clients up seems to fix it.

running 2 clients on 1 pc, just started having complete lock-ups today (3 so far), running both clients in windowed mode and clicking on task bar to go between each window which is maximized. Have a third window opened for vent. Once locked up, nothing works... have to toggle power to get pc back. This system prior to today has been rock solid. Ran virus and malware scans... all clear, as far as i can tell... |

Multiple clients crashed too in random times when changing from one to other. Same for one client.
I noticed cpu is now 100% used with 2 clients (65% before patch)

Two clients on one PC, the one running minimized crashes regularly once every 5-10 minutes.
Currently trying windowed mode, will edit post if there's a relapse.
Sincere regards,

I run single client on my PC. It crashes instantly when i log in and appear in space. Running windowed or fullscreen does not change the behavior.
Another PC runs same client and same character without any visible issue. Can't find the cause so far. It never happened before

Up until yesterday I ran 4 clients on my laptop no problems, then this morning my laptop crashes running 2 clients and the temperature of cpu has sky rocketed.

Exact same problem here. One client was doing fine, then all of a sudden it decided to crash and it's been crashing since then. Other two clients are fine.
I'm getting tired of not being able to log just one client on. Running the repair tool, for hours on end, is also getting tiring.
Thanks CCP, you are the best at ****ing **** up.

Well I just noticed if i put 2 clients into full screen mode (which i never use) the cpu runs at 4oc but if i put it into fixed or windowed it jumps to 50-60c!!! I have changed nothing since last night other than patching eve.
For the past 6 months ive ran 4 clients at approx 42c cpu and now i cant even run 2 ???

It appears it crashes whenever the autopilot is on and it jumps through gate, when the client is minimized.

I am having the same issue. I have had 3 accounts running at the same time full screen on 1 PC for over 2 years and have never encountered this problem. As stated by previous posts it only happens when in autopilot and any of said accounts are minimized. Only has happened after the patch. I am running the eve repair right now. Do not know if any of you have tried it yet. If it works and my 3 clients are stable then i will pass it along.
PC i'm using is home built.
Windows 7 x64 MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX460 AMD B55 unlocked quad core Game is on a SSD 8Gig Kingston DDR3
I have had no issues with overheating from what i have read from other users nor have i seen a CPU spike for resources. Also just double checked for newer device updates and everything is updated. So definitely something with this patch.
Once again, i am running the eve repair then will try again and post results.

Same here.
2nd full-screen client minimised using alt-tab, whilst on A/P results in CTD. 1st full-screen client unnafected.

Run your eve repair tool.
No problems for me so far in the past hour after i ran the tool. Quite possibly the people having the same issues, didn't get the entire patch file. Some files in my eve repair tool showed as missing and were installed. Everything runs fine now.
I have a couple friends who run 6+ accounts and they say they have not had any problems. So more than likely, we were missing some files.

QFT. Not every time though, but that happens. 1 client working in background (minimalized) is enough for this to happen, has nothing to do with multiple client as far as I can tell.

Pardon the noobish question, but do technical staff even monitor this forum? Or should everyone reading this be submitting a bug report to ensure that it is properly logged?

Also having same issues here, 3 clients running on 1 pc, if acct that is minimized is on auto will crash and give me windows "CCP has stoped working" error and close that acct, other 2 accts remain unaffected. I can auto with that client on my screen and will not crash though.

I've also been having crashing since this update, however for me its usually after i jump a gate i crash in the next system, but then cannot log into that character again without it automatically crashing when i log back in. However if i log back into that account on a different character im fine.. Until i jump a gate.
I've uninstalled eve, reinstalled it, cleared cache, used eve repair tool, no luck it keeps happening.

Edited by: Don Pepolini on 02/06/2011 02:34:06 Excacly same issue as most of the people. Client crashes when minimized and runing on autopilot. I also used repair tool and cleared the cache but it didn't help. I've also sent a report to ccp with a log. A lot of people seem to have the same problem so I guess it won't take long to get that fixed.

Tried running the repair, completely reinstalled the client, still crashing
Seems to be related to either (a) warping, (b) jumping between gates, (c) autopiloting or some combination, while the client is minimized. I had three clients running and when just sitting in station no issues. As soon as I had them warping around they started crashing (including two at once)
As someone else noted, probably a dumb question, but someone at CCP does monitor this correct?

Same Problem here. Tried to reinstall, repair, with and without the last fix. Nothing helped. As soon as i minimized the client when its autopiloting through gates it crashes randomly after 1-5 jumps.

Same issue here on a couple of machines - seems to be when minimized with either single or multiple clients running when jumping through gates on autopilot.
Not sure how relevant this is but it occured every few jumps when using a tengu and badger. I then went off on a long haul in an obelisk and this didnt crash when autopiloting minimized.
I wondered if it was something to do with the ship being used - but my obelisk was also flying around with the market window up so i tried that on the badger that was trying to do courier missions.
The obelisk has done around 40 jumps without crashing, the badger did 3 or 4 courier missions (maybe 20 jumps) without a problem when the market window was open so maybe thats something people with a problem can try to see if it helps them.
This sort of problem happened a few years ago and took a while to fix as it was only caused when you jumped and ended up close to another ship (i think) so it was very random and hard to pin down the exact cause. |

I'm having this issue as well. Howver, it doesn't seem to matter if its minimized. It's the client that isn't the current, active one. Last night I had crashes without traveling, but for the most part it appears to be while autopiloting. This.
Running 1 client in background (fixed window) while doing stuff in Chrome & MS Word in foreground, this still happens. Autopiloting seems to be the main culprit, but even sitting off a gate for a few minutes can cause it. (Win7 64bit).

At first I thought the problem was around auto pilot and jumping through gates but I've been running dual box courier missions all morning (about 6 hrs) without using auto pilot at all and the client still crashes, usually just after tabbing off it as warp is iniatied.
The crashes do seem to happen at the point where warp is iniated or where you are just coming out of warp (I've happily switched between when they are in warp). I I also did some dual box ice mining on another computer with both clients minimised.
Two accounts are both set to warp to the ice field by me at more or less the same time after undocking. One drops a few seconds later (entering warp takes about 10 seconds for a hulk) or I have pulled up sesssion one just as its leaving warp, fired off the turrets and then gone to go back to the other client to find it has crashed (at the point where it would have just been leaving warp being some 10 seconds or so behind the other client).
So it doesnt seem to be autopilot related as in all cases their was no use of autopilot - i do think its around warp though, maybe its something in the overview refresh that occurs at that point, who knows. |

Edited by: joslyn on 04/06/2011 05:29:30 Happening to me as well. I run two clients and everything I do in-game just about deals with manufacture, production, and trade. The game is absolutely unplayable for me in it's current state. Minimized clients crash each time they go to do trade runs and hop through a gate.
Just to test, I closed everything and ran a single client by itself set to a 14 jump path in minimized mode. It made one successful jump, then the client crashed on the second. With both clients running it doesn't make it through the first.
Make it stop! lol Can't complain too much, I could use the time away from the game, but in the next day or two please... *crosses fingers* ----------------------------------- We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time. -- T.S.
