First of all, yes it looks pretty. Second of all, it's now much more difficult to read.
The old color scheme stood out across a variety of conditions.
Now it blends in with red nebulae, and there's a lense flare in the way.
Seriously, who exactly was clamoring for this change? Was there really anyone who said... I really like EVE, but the cap readout needs a lense flare!!!
Now I'm ok with UI changes most of the time, but why exactly is there not an option to just turn off the lense flare and transparency, or even change the cap readout color to something more visible?
CCP these minor UI things are really small, but they can improve and detract from the game greatly. A little customization would go a really long way.
PS: This definitely isn't quit worthy, but it's agrevatting and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Maybe its an attempt to kill off some macros ratters and miners that read light levels on the screen.

I totally forgot that bots did this, if CCP implemented this because of botters, good job.

Haven't seen it yet but it doesn't sound pleasant.
HOWEVER, if that is the reason then I am completely willing to live with it without complaint.

Do you know what would really stop all the botters? Removing all windows, tabs and graphics! I'd like to see them bot if logging into eve just permanently resulted in a blank screen from start to finish regardless of lag or activity!
That would surely end all botting in EVE! and further more why do i even need a sig? |

You jest good sir but there are some of us who'd welcome CCP unhooking the GFX from the client side communication portion. Those of us who's operating systems favour OpenGL instead of DirectX.

you know what would be a great way to **** macro ratters over, is give scrams to random frigs, not just the specialy named ones

Theres a difference?
Whatever, theres a reason no game puts light flares on information vital to your survival, namely because it's information vital to your survival... and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Ooh or another idea, if you rat at random times an npc titan will appear, doomsday you, and go away again. That will kill quite some bots.
Serious while from other threads it should be clear I very much hate bots and want them all permabanned, making the UI even more horrible is not an option. It is probably just CCP incompetence and completely unrelated to bots, but if it is related to bots it would be stupid, giving humans a headache is not a counter to bots. Also I seriously doubt it would be hard for a bot to tell the capacitor display, if the capacitor indicator has a colour difference of 1 bit compared to the background a bot can easily find it, a human cannot. Simply said: a bot is better at reading a capacitor display that is barely vissible due to the background.
Plan B: bot knows exact ship stats and knows how often he cycles shield boosters (granted warp might be bit harder to calculate), so during the times when it is invissible (for both humans and bots) it can easily calculate its approximate cap levels, way more accurate than a human can do it.
In other words, if anything it is more of a boost to bots than a nerf.

Edited by: Liang Nuren on 01/06/2011 07:19:40 Its kinda hard to read the capacitor now (not that it was really pleasant before). It'd be nice if we could get a shader/texture behind it that "dims" the background/nebulas.

do not like. transparent UI is bad. the whole point of HUD is to be readable, and EVE UI is not. if i wanted to take pretty screenshot, i would remove UI. if i wanted to read UI data, i'm not at all interested in background behind it. even a simple black mask would do. ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel - [jedi handwave] "There is no spoon." |

Please bring back (optional) the black "fake widescreen" black borders for all the whiners and us bitter vets. One of the greatest features of that black border was that the modules (as well as the row of target boxes) didn't get obscured by the pretty fishbowl.

I'd rather ask for those borders an option to make them invisible, excell at the screeen is not very "fashion" ________________________________________________

Yes that's why I said "optional". Also the new 3d-esque UI [coming this summer] wil get rid of the spreadsheetness of the current overview. Capisce?

Dear CCP,
Your Eve community, claiming to be the toughest out there, almost ranted about something. When someone made the assumption it was to battle bots, they turned into lambs, almost resulting in a "GJ CCP!"
"I can't see my cap, but it's for the botters so Hooah!" Perhaps now you're seeing how desperate we are for a sollution to bots, we're willing to take a hit ourselves.
Kind regards.

Then sir, you can be assured that CCP will give you a reason since it's cheaper than fixing it.
I realize that CCP makes some things more difficult on the user to combat bots. But frankly, these difficulties can generally be worked around by the bots leaving the game only more difficult on the user. So what's the point?

I too deal with varied color issues due to my fathers genetics lol. Most in my family are red/green color blind. When i'm spinning my camera around sometimes i lose sight of my entire capacitor on the background. The old yellow worked great for us that are sight impaired to varied degrees. Might we get a toggle switch to choose our capacitor look? Not to mention you could use that tool to judge how your clientele want things to better guess what we'd find cool in the future.

At the end of the commercial he is on the plane with his chainsaw.
