Saw on a post that Jovian ships are grown through bio-tech, got me thinking about Vuzan Vong bio-tech from star wars comics. Any relation? or actual living bio-ships as an intelligent faction in the future?

Sentient ships are always fun, especially biomechanoids. _____________________________ [Sebiestor tattoos and hair plus Intaki hair: Bring them back.] |

I just hope thye don't get shrunk down to the size of F22s and become transformable. Because then if you ever have to fight one, you would be totally screwed. And they would never obey your ordersw if you ever acquired one. They would just be plain psychotic. ____________ ___476625___ ^^My Signature is Better than Yours^^ |

They're Jovians, not Vorlons. I think it is suggested that they do grow there ships, but to quote the ship descriptions, "little is known of Jovian vessels save their technical superiority". There's the Rogue Drones, though, which fit the bill of sentient machines, and are shown to be able to integrate with living people (the "New Frontiers" mission arc, level 3 security).

Sentient/biomechanoid ships are an old, old trope dating back to long before the Yuuzhan Vong or Jovians were thought up... so, my guess is not. ----------------------------------------------

Sweet ccp post, thnx.
by the way, there is a difference between a ship made of medal that has AI computer components and an actual ship made of a "flesh" that needs to eat, sleep, as well as be sentient.

Edited by: Roga Dracor on 03/06/2011 01:55:11 Biomechanical doesn't have to imply sentience or even intelligence, thruster actuators might be made of biomechanical muscle tissues that perform faster than machines. They could still be operated by standard electrical signals.
Cybernetics is very advanced in Eve. Most Capsuleers are cyborgs already.
And we always return to the fact that the sentient mechanoids created by someone in Eve are as rebellious about servitude as the Minmatar.
