the thing is if it would be a feature what we could turn on or off then there would not be a problem the point is it is random and that makes it annoying

Edited by: Freylar DeSante on 04/06/2011 04:40:16 I was having the same issue. I discovered that the ALT key I had been using for voice coms was set as the "Look At" item under the Escape Menu>Shortcuts Tab>Combat subtab settings, which I though I had set to something different. It appears that, instead of making it active for just a single click, it toggles the "Look At" feature so that any amount of clicks after the alt key was pressed will cause the "Look At" function to shift from clicked item to clicked item. It did the same thing when I set it to a different key. I do not remember it working that way before, but I never paid it much attention. I simply cleared that setting and it did not happen again.

Dunno... while writing to forums with ingame client while playing, once in a while there is periods when some keypresses get completelly ignored.
Haven't seen this happen before. ------------------------------------------------- Play with the best - die like the rest starwreck.com - support the cause :) |

It's not just that but I've noticed that when clicking on the target's icon, I de-target it.

Edited by: JackStraw56 on 04/06/2011 11:43:41 This happens to me now too and several people I was flying with tonight.
Pressing ctrl makes it stop, but then it randomly starts back up at a later time.
In addition, when using ctrl-click to lock stuff on the overview I will randomly start moving toward the thing I was trying to lock.

I cannot unstick the Ctrl-key it is either glued in place by my Herculean seed or bugged.

looks like keeping the ctrl key down for a few seconds toggles 'toggle lock target' although it is unbound. repressing ctrl should do away the white tekst in the middle to get you back to normal.

This bug isn't just isolated to the control key + locking. It also affects all the other hotkeys (orbit, keep at range, jump, approach, look at, etc). If you hold any of those hotkeys for a couple seconds then let go, the 'Look at/Lock/Jump/etc' message will still be on your screen.
Not the worst bug ever, but certainly annoying! At least the backward-flying T3's were funny. :>

It appears to be a new feature.
If you hold cntrl or alt down for 1 second, it toggles the "click to _____" function

Yes this 'feature' causes problems. I'm so used to holding down ctrl to lock a target its very difficult not to turn this on. Yesterday I locked a gate and as I have my point and guns hot only the message 'are you sure you want to do this' saved me. I would say this is a deliberate feature and not a bug. I only hope it's removed soon as it's really not helpful and will result in agressing stargates etc. Its easy to switch off but way to easy to switch on unintentionally.

Clearing the cache does not fix it.
This is an extraordinarily frustrating feature. I switched my lock hotkey to "alt" and the look hotkey to one of the brackets to avoid mix ups.
Turns out this new patch gives me the finger as to how I set up the hotkeys the way I want them. Alt still functions as a "look at" as well as lock, so now whatever I click I also lock and look at.
I can see this costing me a ship in the near future.
At least put an option in the menu:
[ ] Disable sticky hotkeys.
something like that.
I'll go back to using ctrl as lock and getting ****ed off at the stickyness.

Confirming that clearing the cache does nothing. So many other graphics bugs too, even displaying market orders is randomly affected. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |
