I recommend you all listen to the latest episode of Cast 514 from the guys at dust514base for more info on industry and travel through space in DUST 514. It can be found at:
http://www.dust514base.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Broadcaststorm has left dust514base in the more than capable hands of Grideris & Nova Knife as he is now working for CCP under the CCP Frame moniker.
Episode 6 isn't very long (About 38 minutes.) but they is some interesting items mentioned there. Sounds like there will be less industrial activity than maybe we might have hoped for within DUST 514 itself and even less industry activity than expected between EVE Online & DUST 514. EVE pilots will have very little chance to put a spoke in the wheel of DUST mercs apart from Orbital Bombardment which will have to be initiated in the first instance by DUST mercs themselves. On the other hand there will apparently be numerous bonuses and pluses for EVE pilots from actions performed by DUST mercs planetside. So there is a little good news to be had for EVE pilots there.
Sounds like DUST mercs will have to be largely self sufficient in terms of industry/supplying for their own needs. Blueprints will have to be purchased personally for any items you wish to equip/use. The blueprints will not be stored in your hangers like in EVE but will be stored (Injected?) within your head as knowledge and will not be lost if you die. You will travel to battle at planets via jump clones and build what you need 'on the fly' so I'm not sure what purpose the War Barge will play. So that is a final nail in the coffin for those EVE pilots who were hoping to kill the DUST mercs before they arrived planetside. Not that they were ever going to be able to do that imo.
Once all districts have been taken on a planet buildings/installations can be built on 'nodes' on the planet. There will be industrial activity at these installations I would have thought to make higher grades of materials for construction of DUST 514 items.
Nearly forgot to mention another point regarding crossover industry between EVE Online & DUST 514. It sounds like the only possible trade, if there is any at all, will be in the form of materials ONLY being traded from EVE to DUST. Therefore there won't be any trade from DUST to EVE at all.
Those are the most interesting points from the podcast although there are bits & pieces. Still plenty of holes left to be filled though as regards DUST 514 & how it will be played. |

I'd /assume/ the warbarge is there to provide the raw materials. and where you're going to jump to.

If what you said is true I lost every interest in Dust whatsoever. If there is no possibility to interact (trade, scam, sabotage, kill) with them as normal Eve player there is no reason for bothering at all? |

Don't believe we said anything like that at all during the CAST (or in the past). CCP being CCP, I would be surprised if they didn't allow you to do all of the above in true EVE style. http://www.dust514.org - the unofficial forum for everything DUST 514 http://www.dust514base.com - the blog site with everything else DUST 514 you need

We do plan to have industry in DUST 514. It may not be up and running right away, but it is an integral part of linking DUST 514 and EVE Online. DUST 514 Community Manager |

They're going to start slow and build up to it.
The contracts themselves will be interaction points. I'm sure industry stuff will come as we go along, they need to get dust out the door and bringing in the $$$ first.

you have badly misunderstood the blueprint concept.
I don't know why people started using the word, but it's a bad one. |
