I know some people do the ECU head moving around thingy and switching P0 schematic every few hours, but even that is almost impossible without any downtime, right?
My math says (TYPICALLY let us say for Robotics) that to get 1 cycle of P3 per hour, you need 4 P2 advanced processors (2 P2 per input), 4 P1 basic processor (to feed the 4 P2 adv proc) and at least one extractor with 10 heads let us say.
Power for all this adds up to about 15800 MW (added 1000 for links ...etc.)
Now to make this work with this one ECU you need to harvest P0 material at a rate of 36000 units/hour, 18000 units used to produce and the remaining 18000 units are "stored" for later proc when the ECU is switched.
The problem becomes of finding about 36000 units/per hour for ALL 4 types of P0 materials from one location of ECU, which is almost impossible, right?
maybe destroy the ECU to move it around every time you switch P0 schematic?

I have found that I have to set up at minimum 2 planets in order to get any type of p3 done. I haven't found any other way to do it.
Personally I think it's better, that way each planet can have resources being extracted in addition to having a production roll. A little more work on my part, but it's a small price to pay.

Since the PI update which added the depletion factor etc it is indeed virtually impossible to make Pú on one planet. Don't bother trying.

Yes, full-time P3 on a single planet is near-impossible. But nobody says it has to be full-time. _

I actually stage mine. Take care of all the original extraction on all planets with basic p1 processing on each. One planet gets the upgrade with enough for p2 and then a different for p3.
This way I can actually build up sufficient amounts of parts/products at station to make it worth running back and forth for the final phase.
