as an example, we once found an offline control tower in the early days, I fancied so called up a few corp mates.
We had 3 Apocs - equiped with mega pulses, 2 Mallers and a Raven, after 45minutes we got the control tower down by about 10% shields, the raven had run out of Ammo.

JQA managed to kill 3 POS during its lifetime.
1 & 2 took fleets of 50 or so pilots pounding the station for several hours, with indies brining in ammo. They were both offline/had no deployed defencive modules.
3 was fully operational with a strong defence lineup, and we could not mount a frontal assult. Instead, we waited for the thing to run out of fuel, and then killed it while it was offline.
At the moment, I do not know of anyway to successfully attack a POS once it is online, as it is too well defended. The only way I know of is to take out its supplies. No Supplies = No Power = No defence. ====================================

... and one hauler breaks the lines and u can add 5-6 days of waiting ...
but question is, is it really worth to kill the tower with millions of ammo or better buyout the owner :P

Best bet would be a large fleet of gankageddons with a couple of smartbomb-equipped megsa/apocs arrayed around the tower at short range so as to kill any incoming indies without having to come back to your keyboard. You could just leave them there firing away for as long as it took.

I think the whole adea is they won't seem so hard to destroy when dreadnaugts and titans are released into the game with XL turrets and equaly huge amounts of hit points.

A direct assault of a POS at this stage, IMO, is effectively impossible. Fountian destroyed a POS back in December. We detected it just after the tower had been placed online, before there were any defenses deployed. It took a 90 ship fleet 4.5 hours to take it down. If there had been any guns it would have been impossible; we would have had to lay siege to the sector for potentially weeks. I should also note that the POS had no strontium clathrates either.

I am sure you will like the upcomming changes to EW But hey, why sit at 400km when youre gonna jamm the sentrys anyways ?! Would just need a brave man in a tank to go in first untill the Sentrys are jammed.

How do you jam a turret when you can't lock it from outside the shield? Nice idea, but it doesn't work.

u cant smartbomb a active tower within it's forcefield. should be no problem for the owner with a bookmark to jump direct into the forcefield and refill the tower for the next days battles.
a small number of small/medium turrents is killing tanked battleships within some shots. with dreadnoughts ECM is worth fitting to the station. i dont think it will be really an easy kind of attack for dreadnoughts and titans against a well defended and fitted POS. i really cant belive that CCP allows to outrange the POS defencerange by those ships, otherwise it will be time to leave EVE because of unballancing more and more the gameplay.
and for keep POS online ... it is no big deal for a small corp to keep it fueled and online 24/7. everybody who cant manage it is not worth keeping it's POS, that is out of question. to kill a offlined POS is no big deal.

I note with a little smile that some people post things on these forums without actually having any idea of what they are talking about.... armchair POS killers now ? we have armchair POS managers but the armchair pos killers claiming you can jam guns inside the shield is even better
