I understand that T2 BPOs are rare and even the basic ones sell for hundreds of millions. But what if you're willing to pay for one? I never see them on sale in Contracts or anywhere else. |

Join the 'Blueprints' channel ingame. They occasionally come up for sale on there as well. You're talking billions of ISK though and a fair while to reach break even point. |

Thing some people forget that a T2 BPO is an investment. and indeed takes long to break even.
But if you think after a year you want to jump out. you can (if you did not overpay) sell it for the same about of ISK or more. |

Payback time, on a T2 BPO will normally be on the order of several years of constant production.
But for now, there's no reason they'd depreciate in value.

Some have bin seen as low as 20B a print, others have bin seen being sold for 600B plus.
The more profitable a BPO the more ISK you would need to warrant to make a successful purchase. |

As others have said. the only way is to buy one for billions of isk.
The trick is finding a BPO you want that someone is willing to sell.
As far as making isk off it or breaking even as some have said. I call B.S.
If you have billions of isk sitting around as some indy toons do, you can pick up a T2 BPO and start making iskies off it. Forget about the break even point being years away. manufacture from it for a few months or however long you like. Then sell it again for what you paid for it.
Any isk you make off it in this way is pure profit. As long as you do not over pay for the BPO and can sell it for what you paid or more it is a profitable venture. No need to keep it until you reach the break even point when the BPO itself retains the value you spent on it.
This of course means that you are tieing up billions of isk that can not be used for other ventures. Considering most items that T2 BPO's exist for have very low profit margins, this is probably the lowest return on investment you can get from that same billions of isk. |

Items generally fall in value over time because MMO developers will release better-quality items in the future. I'd be careful about T2 BPOs. Their long-term value would be as collectibles only. |

Why would you want one? The Scimitar BPO that recently sold for 525b ISK produces about 7b Gross per month, with a net profit of about 3b a month, for about a 14 year timeframe for breaking even.
Now, that's a cool BPO, so it commanded some premium, but even the BPOs with the best rate of return won't break even for 4+ years.
There are, of course, exceptions. If, for instance, you had bought a T2 Armor plate BPO shortly before they were buffed, there is some chance that you got it at a price low enough that you might make your money back in a year or two now. But that's betting on a BPO that's been operating at a loss for a long, long time.

Ruby Porto is right here, why bother anymore? I have a few -minor- T2 BPOs, and I honestly haven't even used them in a year or so. Crappy as it sounds to some of you, Invention is king right now. |

Note that T2 BPOs are very profitable for people who already have them, and have the means to produce things 24/7 with them. The problem is that they are so rarely sold that they are priced way too high for their benefit. In the mean time I love them as they keep T2 stuff cheap;-) |

You realize that the concept of opportunity cost means that having one and not selling it is functionally the same as buying one?
Those people who already have them have the opportunity to sell them at that massive market value and gain several years of potential profits up front in cash. The cost of keeping them is that opportunity to sell them.
