Cannot help but notice that PL has become infested with lots of former Brick Vets?
You do know that once a Brick, you never lose your Brick tendencies?
and there have been signs of PL behaving strangely...
....theyÆll be setting everyone red next and Leroy the rest of Eve! (erm.. perhaps not û would not be Easy mode).

My pedigree is even worse:
Was in SMASH when we got TDE and made RATEL and Astral Puppies look like clowns, Was in R0ADKILL when we defended the motherland against D2, and when we ousted The Imperial Order & MAD PACT out of MJ- Was in Br1cK sQuaD. when we sent Minor Threat, and whoever else came close to J-A, packing.
As for standings, there aren't many duders rich enough to pay for them. Btw. didn't Br1cK join the NC and had half the map blue for like 6 months? :S

Originally by: Koronos While I fully endorse and approve of Darius' history lesson it seems appropriate to also mention the "in-game" origin of the name. :)
At one point during the G Alliance invasion of Stain Hellsrazor fought a 1v1 with a G pilot in his ferox against I think some kind of HAC, don't remember what exactly. During the process of Hellsrazor's standard obliteration of his opponent the other pilot remarked something to the effect of "Damn your missiles hit like bricks."
From this conversation there gradually emerged an informal usage of the term "brick squads" to refer to small gangs of primarily Ie-eX only (but not exclusively) pilots, usually late night US-TZ run by scooter where we would pretty much engage anything at all, try to strike hard and fast without much regard for our own losses. This was very often our tendency anyway but in normal gangs there would usually be at least some voice of caution. Not so much in "brick squads".
Years later when we were kicked out of Minor Threat primarily for just this sort of behavior (fighting without concern for our own losses) and decided to form our own alliance which we originally expected to be pretty much Ie-eX only we called it Brick Squad. Since then we've obviously joined up with other like-minded folks but the warrior mindset that Darius describes above remains.
Yep I remember that day and that is where the name was earned... I miss those "Thorax Circle of Death" fleets we use to do to when the Thorax could field 5 Ogres :) fun times. But ya Hellsrazor is the og BRICK Missle Launcher lol.

This is odd. I remember a completely other origin of the bricks. When Turix used to make his pvp vids like once a week. One time in the intro he was going to write "IeeX we hit like a brick" instead he wrote "IeeX we fight like a brick".

Hey Draahk, not sure exactly when Turix picked up the term to use it in: http://eve-search.com/thread/254138/page/1#6
But was curious to see when I could find when I started using it: http://eve-search.com/thread/247887/page/2#32
seems a few days before he made the vid. But the story our brosef Koronos and envetro bring up is how I recall hearing it for the first time.

As a former Ratel member, I would point out that the only reason we looked clownish is because we left some moons open. SMASH dropped an impressive number of towers overnight as a result, and we couldn't recover. Otherwise, the war was a good grindfest up to that point. Didn't CCP introduce limits on tower deployments after that move....?

I too was in SMASH wayy back in the day, but they already had most of their territory when I came around. I do remember my favorite SMASHKill fleets being the ones run by IE-EX. I miss those days...

Yeah, RATEL wasent so bad. The NC fleet coming to bail you out that sunday evening though. That was possibly the worst pvp I have ever seen. How the frick do you loose like 100 battleships to 20-25 fighterbombing frigs in a single fight?

Shame you missed out on Geminate 2, just dropping by as the rock, on the feather scales, to tip the balance. I always thought OMG was your corp?
Blue standings as you know are just a mechanism towards a certain goal and they would have been a lot shorter if things had not taken the momentum they did. Logic dictates that when you take Sov in "No Mans Land" between two superpowers that you turn one way and blue those at your back, don't you think?

Shame? Not really, from where I looked it seemed like the last months of Geminate pt.1 from the getgo. =/

I remember when SMASHKILL was neutral to pretty much everyone and D2/PURE./+friends trying to kick us out, and failing (dropping fighters at the gates with shuttles for the win). There's always a different path man, I'm not saying it's easy, but SMASHKILL was one hell of a fighting force until it got too big and started to be "friends" with too many people.
