No matter what pc I download the offline client when I try to install it on my Sys 7 32 bit OS pc it gives an error message: Archived extraction failed: CANCELLED.
This is all in red. Below it is a blue "Click here to download manually" If I click there it goes back to Offline installer and when I do that it gives the same error message.
This happens after it downloads and extracts the file. I was able to use eve prior to the latest patch on this pc.
Has this happened to anyone else and is there a workaround for this issue? Thanks. |

Edited by: Volgaris Magistralis on 22/06/2011 18:47:45 Same issue here when using the Manual offline installer.
I believe it is due to the installer not allowing the user the ability to select a folder to use as the temporary extraction folder.
I run into similar issues everytime there is a major patch. Basically the C:/ partition on my pc has very limited amount of space and there is not enough room for the patcher to download the data and extract it to be able to install the game.
So I'm pretty much stuck with no eve, unless I reinstall my entire OS with a larger partition because the installer doesn't have some bit of code that asks the user "Where would you like to extract these files? The Default location does not have enough free space."
I would rather deactivate my 4 accounts than reinstall my entire OS just because a game installer won't let the user choose a proper location for a temp folder. I hope I am wrong and that it has nothing to do with the installer always defaulting to the C:/ drive as the location for a temp folder and not allowing the user to choose a proper location with enough space.

Edited by: Volgaris Magistralis on 23/06/2011 00:37:53 I found a workaround! (For windows XP at least)
Here are the steps used to change the default temporary folder location:
Click on the Start menu, choose Run and type sysdm.cpl Click on the Advanced tab and click the Environment Variables button at the bottom.
Double-click on the User variable named TEMP and change it to a path on your spacious non C:\ drive Double-click on the User variable named TMP and change it to a path on your spacious non C:\ drive
Click OK to officially change these environment variables.
Restart Windows so it can use the new temp directory and the eve installer will use the new default temp folder.
Looks like I don't have to quit eve after all.

Fitz,
This may very well be a space issue on your C:\ drive.
I would click on your start circle > go to "Computer" find your local disk c: and right click it and select "Properties".
Blue space is your used space, pink is your free space.
It will also display free space amount, for example 25.5GB.
If your free space is 3GB or less, then I suggest looking into to changing your windows profile location in Windows 7 to a drive with more space (likely your D: drive) Google is a good place to search on how to do this.
