the driver will stop responding but recover on exit or when I alt-tab.
AMD 5850 x2 in crossfire(happens also out of crossfire)
Windows 7 64 bit
4Gig ram
catalyst 11.5 drivers (most recent)
anyone know a solution? or is this just due to the most recent patch?

hmm idk why i should have to...these drivers have been out for almost a month now...u would think they would test it with recent drivers?

Same problem here it gives me several VPU errors then totaly crash eve mostly crash in space i had some problems recently after patch it makes like links around clouds in space and textures were little uhm how to say bad at all ..
So i decide to reinstal video drivers to most recent and it went to hell whole i return to my old one with i get with card on cd and it was a lot better but sometimes crash and whole computer not responded to anything so i return back to theese and maybe reset of chaches will help you at leas t helps me to lower rate of this issue and i reinstal dirX too ..
But still this game has severly issue with ATI/AMD/ASUSS graphics... CCP should take a look at it...

I think game developers should avoid partnerships with video card manufacturers, otherwise risk alienating segments of the potential client base due to hardware issues resulting from not buying the video card that they are in partnership with.

I have a workaround for this issue. I noticed that it only happens in fullscreen mode. If you switch it to "fixed window" mode it wont happen anymore.
(I also did bug report this issue in fullscreen. hopefully they do something about it.)
