Intentionally posting with alt for protection...
So, my 'friend' has acquired the ire of a rather large corporation that has vowed to grief him until he quits the game. Was just wondering if this was grounds to get a name change, or if not, what are the guidelines?

Tell him to post something like this in local "My name is effin awesome. You can destroy my ship, pod me, but you can't do anything to my name. HAHAHAHAHA". Then they'll petition his name themselves saying that it's insulting to them. lol uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹnʇɐuƃıs ʎɯ ƃuıpɐǝɹ ǝɹɐ noʎ |

Tell your friend to suck it up, go underground, never dock at a station except to take care of some quick business, relocate to a distant region and invest in cloaking devices.
If he can't hide in a universe with 5000 solar systems, he's certainly not creative enough for this game.
EVERYONE SEEMS NORMAL UNTIL YOU GET TO KNOW THEM. |

There are several ways to deal with 'grief you out of the game' threats. Some might be considered 'cowardly' but this is a game where YOU get to choose what you do. If they get mad, even better because knowingly circumventing their intent to bully you is hilarious.
- Laugh, these mofos are probably a bunch of spastics anyway.
- FIGHT BACK! If you don't think you can manage it alone, enroll friends or try and join a corporation that would lavish the attention of a bunch of lame griefers.
- Make insta undock bookmarks for all your favourite stations. Keep an eye on local, cloak / dock up when you need to etc etc. (learn to protect yourself)
- Go somewhere they don't want to be for a while. Low sec/0.0 if they are high sec Wa5r1orRz. Chilling in a wormhole for a bit will easily thwart them. Often just moving about in high sec is enough. Keep jump clones spread across empire so if they DO track you down you can just lol at them and clone jump 60 jumps away.
- block communication or keep it to a minimum. Don't feed them and they will get bored.
- Play on alts for a bit
- Hire mercs if you can afford them
- Take up station trading or some other passive activity, they will not be able to touch you and will probably try and camp you in thinking they are ruining your gameplay (while you are making isk and they are sitting around bored)

guidlines are: your name is offensive. you just made your character and made a typo and petitioned it immediately. you wish to capitalize your name (a very grey area of maybe ifs)
the end.

Lady spank. that's not a bad name. not compared to a friend who had her character's name changed in less than 3 hours to Minmitar citizen 2121286. her mimi girl's name was 1luv 2eet*****, omg aren't we just so sensitive. it was a couple guys who petitioned ccp, too. must have been a few special boys.

Quote: This list is not all-inclusive. Other names may be deemed inappropriate at a GMĘs discretion.
I've asked the GM's to use their discretion to correct a misspelling in my name, but they say they don't have discretion.
Also, this policy is not really enforced. I see lots of player characters named after in-game items and NPCs. You would think the character creator would have a blacklist of NPC names so you couldn't create a character named Quiratain Quiratain, but it doesn't and you can.
Please update published policy to reflect actual implementation.

Every action in Eve has ramifications. One must be careful and play nice as to NOT "acquire the ire" if one cannot handle the consequences.
Once you burn bridges, there is no turning back. Most a s s hats that I know *cough* Flyinghotpocket *ahem* either spend the rest of their eve careers being a punchline in other people's jokes, or if they cant handle the heat they sell their accounts and resurface with a different name *harumph* XVII Chandler *achoo*
But there is no "I'm unpopular can I get a identity makeover" option available.

Even if you could, it wouldn't help. You would still be on contact or watch list; you corporation history wouldn't change etc.

I disagree, when you buy a character you're buying everything that comes with it, including all it's unwanted baggage. Plus some characters have names that are worth more than the skills they've trained.
