Edited by: Nova Fox on 07/06/2011 01:44:28 Overall I have to give it a 4.0 for effort.
Underlining that Sony is down but not out of the fight. So far all the games they've revealed using the move either made me angry or go wtf, as I felt the general additude with the move was trying to force it down the throats of developers.
Then trying to shower players with games we may already own feels extremely wasted effort as well.
However NGP was an excellent presentation I felt that none of the developers making games for that system where forced into using the gimmiks but rather given the freedom to explore the gimmiks they can use in a sensible manner.
Unfourtunately I had to mark the score back up for anything I might have missed due to buffering and the channel that aired the xbox conference (then again xbox paid for that) isnt airing the sony one. Ill try to get as much back tracking as I could but so far they're pointing back to non exclusives.
Pending rest of conference.

Sony conference was bad.
Low points: - AT&T. - Announcing the PS3 version of BF3 as the definitive one because 1943 is on the disk. - Vast overemphasis on the move. - Tretton's tie. - Not a single new announcement. - Tretton's bad pun about buying Sony stuff. - Vita looked like a psp crossed with an iphone. Without the phone.
High points: - Hilmar's joke was kinda funny.

However Vita was an excellent presentation I The only other thing that really made my jaw drop was not the graphics or gizmo but the price of 250$ USD o-O I can buy almost 4 ps3s at that price.
The new cooler version of the PS3 is $300

Sony does not yet get the internet consumer mentality. Maybe it is because of 'don't rock the boat' Japanese corporate culture. It has made itself a target for feckless vigilante internet hackers by coming down hard on the hacker who broke PS3's encryption. Sony is not like Microsoft and have huge reserves of cash. It is having a hard time and lost $3.1 billion in the last financial year. But Sony should show more enthusiasm for its customers than it does for its own products. It should have done a PR campaign in conjunction with dealing with the hacker who broke the PS3. Something like 'Sony has put a lot of investment into the PS3 that you enjoy. Our ability to continue supporting the PlayStation platform that you enjoy would become unachievable if the PS3 was opened up to games and other digital media that was not purchased'.
I actually only got a PS3 to play Gran Turismo 5 on. As games PC's have far eclipsed the PS3's graphical ability I only get second hand PS3 titles that are something different that what I could get on a PC.
