Two questions CCP.
Are internet spaceships no longer serious business because EVE will be incorporated with Dust 514, a PS3 console game that I am super stoked to play. I mean, I'm very concerned about these consolers who have a rep of being immature not taking my spaceships seriously!
Also, saw the trailer at the E3 briefing, where are my spreadsheets?
That is all.

If they don't take it seriously we will just nuke them from orbit with our Moros fleets.
No further thought required.

Internet spaceships are still very much serious business. And if someone does not take your internet spaceship seriously, you'll be able to nuke them from the orbit.

They'll take isk/aurum seriously. If they're crap they won't get any of it, which will likely mean they won't get shiny aegis, weapons and hardware to make them better at their stuffs, making them more in demand and able to charge more isk/aurum for their services .. to get even better stuffs etc.
One thing all fps players love is rankings, upgrades and epeen. Dust will have this in spades I'm sure.

Can I quote you on that? I can just nuke those little guys from orbit without any reason and make their lives miserable?
Oh wait, I already did quote you. :D

What I want to know is: how soon until we get the NPC version of planetaty conflict, are the folks at CCP thinking they'll sort that out once DIST 514 is released?
I want to hire folks to sabotage someone's beanstalk, dammit!

You should be careful with giving EVE players that option. In more than 5 years of playing EVE i learnt one thing: EVE players are abysmally evil. They cause harm just for fun, inflict damage where they can for no reason. Look at the so called hulk-a-geddons: people lost hulks in highsec, without that the attacker gained anything, they were killed just because of a causeless malevolence of their fellow players. There are many EVE players who hate Dust514 out of jealosy, as CCP puts their resources in that game instead of EVE. Now guess what will happen, if they have the option to inflict damage to the dust players. The word griefplay will get a new meaning, i already pity the poor "dusters", living under a constant rain of unprovoked nukes.

Day one of Dust: First Dust player: "Ooh yay! The tutorial was a bit brief and didn't teach me much, I guess I don't need to know more than that, right? Also, are downtimes always that long? They said 1400 but it was 2030 before I could log on!!!" Eve community: "Yes, and HTFU AND STFU!" FDP: "Oh .. um .. ok.."
Later that week:
Dust players: "Why does no one give us any jobs to do? Everytime I logon all that is happening is EVERYTHING is being nuked!" Eve community: "Thank ****. Finally a use for Dreads"

Actually we cannot nuke them from orbit because our ships do not orbit planets. They just sit there like space blimps.

The question is: why should anyone bother hiring mercs? To defend some 3M worth of little dots creating negligible value per day? |

Yes I thought EVE was actually Market Wars online and spaceships and parts were just the main commodity that's been traded? Could as well have been cars?

I am very worried about those new DUST players who can sit behind their console and shoot at my ship in space while I can't even see them because I am not the owner of a XBOX or any other game console.

This is what I'd like to know as well. One can only assume that because PI will be tied into Dust that PI will be then used to create the shiny stuff for Dust players. IE making it more profitable on this side of the game.

Until the dusties use some RL cash in their money store buying a planetary cannon to one shot your 1.6 billion isk dread....
I qoute CCP Shadow from the PS3 blog on Dust514:
"Hi Vorlord. DUST 514 wonÆt have a monthly subscription like a number of MMOs. DUST 514 will have virtual goods sales though, that allow you to buy various types of gear used in combat."
"Hey Shoryukenll,
YouÆve asked a few things I canÆt delve too deeply into, but what I can comment on is what you said about virtual items and real money. DUST 514 will support purchases made through both in-game earned currency and real money currency."
Hmmmmm........ DUST514 is supposed to be tied into OUR Eve universe so now $$$$ for game changing items is one step closer......
