So Me and my Corp mates where flying about in space attacking diffrent Serpentis things and what not. Then someone jumped in next to us, he had a secutity rating of -1.8. He starts flying really close to us and locks on us, then he turns red and hostile, but doesn't attack. so we just wait to se what will happen, And after a while he attacks. We try to fight back thinking that anytime CONCORD will drop in and give us a hand. But no.
So why didn't they? We had no aggression counters. We were in 0.5space. He attacked first.
I have been looking around for sometime to find a good thread or webpage that could help explain, but have had no such luck.

First of all, security status -1.8 won't evoke any kind of response by faction police.
Second,we need more info, what do you mean "Turned Red", was the yellow targeting box replaced by a red box? Because if it wasn't he hasn't actually attacked you. If he was just turning red on the overview most likely he just stole something from your wreck.
Also how did he start attacking you?
Finally,If this is your thorax You need to re think your fitting strategies. You are running both a shield and armor tank, which is not good. Drop the extender and the armor plates, upgrade to a medium armor repairer and fit some resistance mods. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

He was first Yellow Boxed yes, then the box turned red. His Drones started firing on my Corp-mate/Fleet mate, so we returned fire.
And yes I know the thorax was awefull, but that wasn't the ship I was talking about, It was a Armortank(ish) Myrmidon and I'll link the it when it shows up on Battleclinic.

If he flipped a wreck belonging to you guys there's quite a number of options...
1) One of you had drones set to aggressive and he was within a few kilometers of the drones when he flipped your wreck, at which time they passively fired on him even if you did not observe them actively targeting and pursuing him. This is an old trick that I am pretty sure still works.
2) He flipped your wreck as you were looting it and took advantage of the latency trick to cause the server to think you had stolen from him. It has been awhile since I have heard much about this one, so I do not recall whether it works anymore or the exact details, but it is also old school.
3) You were actually in low security space and did not realize it.
4) One of you has turned off the warning prompt when looting from containers that do not belong to you and inadvertently looted a wreck he made, or a can he flipped without paying attention. Do not turn off these kinds of warning prompts, they are good for business, the business of staying alive that is. --------------------------------- It seems quoting the CSM minutes in your signature is inappropriate content! No, does not work. Drones never ever ever ever attack unless told to now.

No longer works.

Edited by: Mendolus on 08/06/2011 13:43:03 Awesome, although it was kind of exciting when there were little things that could get you hosed up while doing your day to day thing, I liked the cat and mouse aspect of it, even though I was the mouse in missions and at belts when I first started playing, :)
I appreciate the responses, these kinds of exploit fixes come and go all the time, and sometimes CCP stealth fixes them, like a number of drone fixes they have applied over the years that went undocumented, etc. so I do not catch them all.
Cheers o7
Edit: If they fixed passive (while on aggressive, confusing much right?) drone aggression for our drones, does that mean the NPC AI also does not exhibit this behavior? Nothing annoyed me more than sending drones off to kill a pack of frigates in an L4 and when I was only yellow boxed by a few of the battleships they would start wailing on my drones even though they had me targeted and 'aggressed', LOL
Just when you thought it was safe to release the hounds! they start dying... |

Is where all your answers will be. You will be able to see who shot first (HINT: it was H. Solo).
You will need these for all the guys you were flying with at the time. If you want them to be digested for you, you can post them here.
Also, and please take no offense, your fits need some work.
Key points: Active armour tank for PVE, this means no plates. Fit medium repper(s) and resists to deal with the specific damage types faced. eve-survival.org is FTW, by the way. You may need to turn over one lowslot to a cap power relay with low skills. Avoid the trap of 'damage control by default.' Afterburner and cap rechargers in the mids. Aim for this fit or a T1 / Meta equivalent for your Mrym. Notice TWO active hardeners for primary and secondary damage types. Swap as needed, ofc. This will make it hard as nails. One or two nano pumps in the rigging. One or two cap control circuits if needed.
Get your drone skills up, and you have a very nice boat.

Edited by: Burnthas on 09/06/2011 08:21:30 Edited by: Burnthas on 09/06/2011 08:19:40 I have read the "Gamelogs" and it seems that one of my friends accidentally fired missiles at him. He Was going to shoot at an other target that was destroyed the moment he pressed fire => He Fired at the "pirate".
I have now informed my Corp-mates not to fire Unless fired upon. Thanks again for all the help :D
Edit: typo :S

Yellow boxing and red boxing does not mean the background on the overview, it's about the pulsing square around the icon indicating he targeted you (yellow) or is aggressing you (red). The background changing colour has to do with HIS aggression. So he stole from one of your wrecks (turning him red) waiting for you to attack him so he could then "defend" himself.

It was always the only explanation, unfortunately.
FWIW, note that the rest of your gang were safe until they also fired upon the thief. If it happens again, consider whether you want to aggress and aid your corpie, or leave him to die of his own stupidity.
