Edited by: Atticus Fynch on 08/06/2011 05:10:59 OK, from what I understand all texures in EVE are on the client. That includes ship skins.
Now with custom logos and skins on the horizon, just how will this work? You can't upoad a custom skin to every client, so it will have to be server side.
Yet, wont that translate into drag if say, 100 ships in a blob have 100 custom skins and logos?
Or is the whole thing just an illusion whereas your particular customiziation will be on your client and viewable to you only while the rest of us see the default ship skin?
If so then what is the point of it all?
Anyone know how this will work?
EDIT: Come to think of it, the same applies to all the toons in WIS. Everyone will have different textures/clothing, yet they all cant possibly be on the client.
Curious.

One possiblity I hadnt considered is that "custom" my mean something entirely differtent.
I kept thinking of that "Hello Kitty" ship.
I dont think EVE will allow us to get that detailed but rather will give us a range of pre-made options/skins to choose from.
Much the way corprate logos are done now.
If that is the case then i can see how it can be done without issue, since it all will be on the client anyway.

I think the race you should have aimed for when creating your character was Caldari.

So that¦s how they will be treated in space and on the market. Just another different ship.
That actually makes a lot of sense and avoids the texture re-mapping overhead required by any other method.
In short, it will be an extension of the current different "variations" we have of any one ship now like a Megathron vs a Navy Megathron.
