With their being faction, officer, and dead space, of other modules. Why not upgraded versions of mining lasers? This would effectively give a boost to yield, cycle time, or fitting requirements, to those who want to spend the extra time and money to get them. And it would be harder for macro miners to keep / use them. This is way easier than a T3 mining ship, and they would just need to re-texture modules already in the game.
I know people say that increasing yield will only hurt the economy more. I say if that's true, then remove all hulks and have people only able to fly covetors to make up for it. When it comes down to it, a large majority of the major industry miners are using minerals on bigger projects. Captial - Super Capital construction. Not to mention a botter isn't going to be interested in using something like this when they run on a system that will waste an entire cycle on asteroids with 5 veld left in them.
So for those who mine in Low sec, Null sec, or multi account in high sec! I call out to you, to make the right choice. Improve your game play today, improve your game play tomorrow!

lol, are you seriously suggesting trading hulks for a few faction miners? I was with ya 'til you got to this.
I'm not in favor of subtracting from industry at all when we have struggled so much to get expansions to give anything to industry in the first place.

There are already Faction Mining lasers. However MSM2 is still the best.
Take out Hulks? After training 2 chars to Exhumers 5, I am not happy with you sir. 
Mining equipment is fine the way it is. It is MINING that could use a bit of a change, but there are more than a few threads concerning that. My Signature is too large... O_o |

This! I'm not an industrialist per say but even I know that this would not only cause threadnaughts out the ying yang but dropped subscriptions.

That was a sarcastic point. Yield doesn't ruin the economy time spent and where it goes does. Of ducking course I don't want hulks removed are you guys crazy?!!
Also Dead Space and Officer would have better yield, cycle, or fitting, because they are higher meta. Faction does it's faction thing. Best to call it the dude.
Perhaps I should be more serious when I make points... Either way it's good to see the idea was partially supported under partial comprehension. And yes it is my fault for wording it that way. |

The whole reason I suggested new mining modules. Is because its easy to punch in new stats and recolor the current ones. For what ever the reason CCP automatically makes adding new ships a 1-2 year process. But can pop out a rare tournament ship in seemly weeks - year. Though I do like your idea I'm a bit split on the fact industry would have a hi sec restricted ship before the drug industry did. Or for the fact that it isn't a capital.
Though I would be really interested in a covert ops version of the Covetor. So that you could cloak, etc, and avoid ganks in 0.0. Would help mining based corps survive a little in a combat alliance. Though I could see this making hulkageddon pilots sad.

Pirate mining ships, why not make them do both, or make one of each? The mackinaw mines ice, why shouldn't there be one tier for gas cloud harvesting and one tier for ore mining?
In any case, low-sec needs more of a boost, so the pirate ore miner makes more sense game-play wise.
