I was looking at this the other day and I noticed that other than the pure damage bombs, there was only a neut bomb and the "ecm burst" bomb.
Adding some extra EWAR bomb types would add another little facet to PvP. Imagine an AoE webbing effect*, or maybe bomb types that apply sensor damp, TD, painter effects when they hit. Maybe like 100% effectiveness with the initial blast then geometrically "fading" over a period of 10-20 seconds.
*that could also work as a seperate idea, a webbing field generator to go with the warp disruption field generator. Weaker than an actual web module, smaller radius than a warp disruption field but persistant.

I'm sure these ideas have come before. In private discussion among friends we have always concluded that these modules would be useless for the most part. Why not just use lockbreaker bombs and huginns?

Well, why have damage bombs when you have turrets in that case?

If you look at my battlefield control thread the ideas are similar, except I would deviate away from only 'bombs' as then one ship class has a lot of utility when it could be spread throughout others. There are ships more dedicated to ECM in its various forms that could use things along these lines rather than giving them to an already unique and effective ship class. -More Pewpew, Less QQ- |

Have you ever used a bomb or developed a coherent argument before?
You're comparing two totally different scenario.
Damage Bombs and ECM/Neut bombs are different. The difference is that ECM or Neut bombs would never be used in isolation. They don't serve a purpose without DPS to kill whatever it is you're jamming or neuting.
The problem with the bombs is that: a) You're using SBs who have a very specfic role and are unused for most of a fleet fight. ECM or neuts can be incorporated into ships which serve main fleet purposes as well. b) You don't always want AOE weaponry or know that the enemy fleet will be totally separate to your own. c) Damage is often preferable, especially when the regular bombs do so much of it. This is probably normally the best move. d) In relation to c... SB's can't hold many bombs and so generally opt for one type. You can't keep lockbreakers as an alternative ammo.
