When I lost my first Arbitrator I was devastated, disbanded my corp, and cancelled all wardecs. True story.

People prize their ships?
I've never been upset about losing a ship, just annoyed at the stupidity that caused the loss; but you live and learn, or rather, die and learn. I'll point out that I've never been wealthy in Eve, either, so it's not like I could say, "Ha! That ship was nothing to me, I have 20 more like it!"
The death that annoyed me the most, though, was my first one. I had heard you could destroy missiles with smartbombs, so I wanted to try that out. So I had a corpmate shoot missiles at an asteroid while I tried to stop them with a destroyer with 8 smartbombs on it. Only problem was, I did this in low-sec and didn't notice a pirate enter system. Ironically, it was an Inquisitor; take it from me, smartbombs, at least small smartbombs, do not do a great job of destroying missiles. So I was a bit annoyed at losing a destroyer to the ship class it's designed to dominate.
I expect the pirate was probably puzzled over that fit when they saw the killmail. I also recall them, maybe incorrectly, as having a bit of a forum presence. So, Sakura Nihil, if you read this, now you finally know what was up with that fit.

If it goes down in a monumental exchange of fire while doing its job of being a bad ass, I'm happy.
If it dies to a rifter because I d/c with agro or to a small gang of some people I trash talk - I'll rage quit eve for a while.

First is always the worst. Although I came close to the dumbest loss ever recently. Cyno'd my alt JF to one of my pos's and almost lost it to my own guns. 10% structure, I think that would have been the worst loss ever.

I thought being in such a group as WI., you would somewhat be desensitised by such a thing as losing 'spensive ships at such a frequent rate?

I haven't lost much, other than a few battleships. I've yet to go T3 or advanced. So mostly I just shrug it off and contemplate my mistakes. Just annoying.

Just because I happen to be in WI. doesn't mean I should be less affected by losing an expensive ship, for me, a T3 loss is expensive. For you, it may be nothing.

I remember I had a crane that I used for low sec courier missions. Had a covert ops cloak on it, and nicknamed it "uncatchable".
I didn't think I would be at risk in high sec with an empty cargo hold, so I went to auto pilot just long enough to take a ****. When I came back I had been suicide ganked by a battleship. Guess the guy was pretty bored. It sucked but I also felt I like deserved it. That's what happens when you let your guard down! Haha. -Jest

Mine was a Faction Fit Tengu, lost defending a Moros from Sleepers in a C6 Combat site. Moros got snagged while spawning a Cap wave in an exchange, and I ended up warping to it instead of in with the fleet. Saved the Moros by taking all the heat long enough for it to get out, but the Fleet was to far out to help me.
Pretty pricy loss, but I didn't feel as bad as I might have, even given I had to sell everything to replace it. Saving the Moros, even if only by default and dropping a Rep on it was some small satisfaction, and I didn't really get upset about it. If it had gone up in a flash and died almost instantly, I think the experience would have been much worse. It took some time though, and I had accepted the loss before I got into structure I think.
Still, kind of depressing.

I really want to see the reaction of a titan pilot that did not bot for his isk, or is the major ceo of a large alliance. Just a guy that spent countless man hours carebearing to get it, now that would be fun to watch his reaction while all that work gets blown up.

"Damn that was stupid!" 2.5 billion ISK Tengu attacking a bait small POS. Bait taken and swallowed whole.
Gave them kudos for a well planned trap.

Was one of those hi-sec mission runners in a pimped out CNR that got griefed by 5 or 6 ganking Ravens with Moj torps (I think it was AAA members). I remember thinking that I had a logistic ship in a nearby station that could have kept it alive however it did take 30sec to melt. The Gist X repper survived ....
I hurt for a bit then thought about what a titan pilot would feel to lose a 80bil ship and went out an bought another CNR and fitted it with t2 and carried on missioning -------

I lost a Officer Fit Vexor in low sec to a goon in a typhoon. Then I lost another officer fit Vexor and another...
Eventually I stoped buying Vexors and started buying Myrmidons... that did not end well. I lost many myrmidons and then I figured I would try a dominix and I ended up losing plenty of those.
Now I am tapped out as far as isk goes. I do not have enough isk to buy another ship or more fits.
So I just train skills and spin my pod in station. "Sorry, Your Sov Options are Unavailable due to a PSN Outage."

On topic: My most recent lost was my worst. Yes, it was a dirt cheap 17 mil, but that ship and I have been through so much together... Also ended a 24 kill streak!

My first (and actually my only Merlin.) I was still on my trial account and I had saved and saved until I could buy it, and promptly got it blown up by mission rats.
Wanted to cry and the loss was a primary reason for not continuing after the trial had ended. Was a year before I came back.

this happens every single time I lose a ship;
First I just think "those pig****ers, they destroyed my ship, they just showed up and totally ****d me." I sit silent for a moment, and then,"Ha, oh well, man, I f***ed up." and then I just laugh and don't care, even if it costs me a lot, because if another player killed me then I was either doing something really stupid or it was beyond my control.
When I get killed running a mission, however, that just sucks, there's nothing to laugh about, nothing to gain, just a sense that because I was careless and didn't prepare, I've set myself back. So I get pretty ****ed.

I recently lost a T2 fitted duel repping Abaddon in a mission while round a friends house, he'd just got some new pet rats and I walked away from the game to observe their cute rattiness. when I came back I wondered where my drones had gone, then I realised I was a pod. I'd turned the hardeners on but not the reppers, I said "LoL Noob", and went back to rat watching.

My first ship loss (outside of the tutorial missions) was my Arbitrator. I loved that ship. It's fitting was terrible and it's drones subpar, but it had spirit. I named it The Luftwaffler and daydreamed about what new adventures the next level 1 mission would bring. I finally got access to L2's and my very first L2 mission turned out to be the blockade.
The Luftwaffler got completely spanked due entirely to my noobness. I cried a little. Tore off some of my clothes. Punched the wall. Stuff like that. Then I hopped into my backup Arbitrator, renamed it "Vengeancesauce" and dismantled the mission with a prejudice.
All in all, it was pretty awesome.

I lost more expensive ships to PVE than I did for PVP, all because of stupid server errors and socket disconnects that happened.
When I go to CCP for a reimbursement they say; " Our logs show nothing".
**** You CCP, your GMs are not only slow in replying to petitions, but they don't understand **** about the game.
If I lost an expensive ship to a fight that's one thing.
I get ****ed off when I lose a ship to something beyond my control.

I would say the most interesting feeling is not after the loss, but RIGHT BEFORE just as you begin realizing that you will be flying a pod in less than 30 seconds... If you are lucky, you may get through the five stages of grief before you hit structure:
Denial - you see them on 360 but you can't stop the warp and hope the bubble was placed by a noob.
Anger - you realize you chances of survival are pretty slim, yet this attack was unprovoked. pretty self-explanatory.
Bargaining - this window can be very narrow but can be exploited to double the loss of the victim ;..;
Depression - grabs you at the neck when you see armor go below 50%.
Acceptance - usually once the pod appears, otherwise past 50% structure.
*** WARNING *** Going through all stages of grief in a matter of seconds MAY result in a severe case of smacktalk. Going through all stages of grief in a matter of seconds yet survive WILL result in a severe case of smacktalk. *** WARNING ***
