Would decay even have an influence? I mean, obviously PvE ships would need to change mods now and then but... PvP ships have a pretty short life span already >,>

Decay or upkeep would also help alleviate the super-cap problem to some extent.
Exponential upkeep-costs on super-caps calculated on an alliance basis, even more so :)

What about propulsion fuel requirements? I don't mean jump fuel, I mean warp fuel and general propulsion fuel. Alliance Owned Stargates

The benefit of such a mechanic would depend on how people would be allowed to deal with decay. Fix it with material, isk or time sink? Or not at all, i.e. predefined expiry dates?
It could be a huge indy buff, a decent mat/isk sink, a means against oversized hangars and an incentive for increasing market velocity.
Technically it would be difficult to implement because both the inventory and market system are not at all equiped to deal with a characteristic like decay, which makes items of the same kind unequal.
Finally and most importantly, this doesn't make CCP more money, so, when chosing between MT and decay, the latter would never happen. ________________________ CCP: Where fixing bugs is a luxury, not an obligation. |

It would also decay their customer base and revenue.
I can see it now, extended downtime, crashes, reboots, all your items decayed due to not being online to correct it.
Multiple accounts? Your life just got harder lol. Get rid of more revenue.
Why bother, I know I wouldn't, I would just find a new "fun" game elsewhere.
Go ahead please, add decaying items. Lets see what happens :)

weapon/ship/armor/horse decay in any game is always a negative-fun inducing addition, especially in mmos.

Go play Planet Entropia if you want decay, and/or to dance around as an Avatard.
/no really, go.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

I was going to try Entropia but was told that you cannot do anything without a credit card lol.
Didn't even bother with the download after that.

Decay is likely to have a negative effect on the game, it usually does.
So everytime you dock your ship you have to repair it.
Some games use non-repairable items, if this was to be the case in Eve then the game would alter significantly, for the worse.
Decay does not really have a place in Eve, if you want to increase sales then you need more PvP, arenas could help there on small to mid size items.

confirming that the decay of BPO's would create a nice new ISK sink. -- please consider to visit our w-space system, cake will be served immediately. |
