Just bought a ship in 0.4 (yes without checking >.< ) what are the chance of getting it into empire space in one piece? Or would just selling it off be better?
It's one jump away from safety, the ship is an apocalypse.
Thanks for any advice.

Make a fast undock safe spot with a shuttle or something, then Run Forest, Run!

The odds of getting it out are rather high provided you are not a ****** about it.
Step 1: Use a trial account or any empty character slot to make a no skill alt, or fly in with a no implant clone. Use a shuttle or fast frigate with a microwarp drive fitted (thats for step 3!)
Step 2: No camp? Empty local? Awesome, get your ship out. Go to market options and make it not show stuff in low/nullsec. Be happy.
Step 3: If camp, warp off to a random planet. Do not use the sun, and DO NOT WARP TO A MOON. Do not try to burn for the gate, and do not turn your MWD on. If you have a cloak fitted, or a cov ops, do the mwd cloak fit. Either way you should make it past the camp in either the ship or your pod. If ship survives, go to station upon landing, check the guest list. If there is nobody, get out, and without making your ship move in any direction, turn MWD on. At about 500 Km's, or when you get scared, make a bookmark.
Step 4: get in station, get your ship, warm to the above bookmark and then warp to 0 to the high sec gate. Keep spamming that "Jump" icon, you want to jump through as soon as you get out of warp and before you turn into fireworks.
At the end of step 4 you will either be in high sec with your ship, or your problem will be solved.
Be happy.

Seconded.

Or insure it, blow it up. Take a small loss in complete safety, or risk it all. Your choice.
Heck, insure it and gank a miner with it if you live. You might even come out ahead, depending on drops.
And in summary, bigger blobs are the answer. Now what was the question? |

check the buy order on the system it is on, if you made the mistake, maybe some buyers are willing to buy it here for a good price...
another solution if you really don't want to try undocking is reprocessing it ; mineral buy orders are often way easier to get a good price than others items. so if buy order for the ships are too low, good chance that buy orders for the mats are okay.
but honestly just try to leave with a insta undock as people said.

People sell to cheap buy orders in low sec because who wants to risk moving a ship up to empire? Likewise people buy expensive ships in low sec because who wants to risk moving a ship from empire?
That being said getting out of low sec is easier that you think, so just go for it. ------------------------------------------ "I used to play Eve Online because I enjoyed how it made me feel, now I play to stop from getting sick." |

Another tip: do it right after the downtime (provided you get to the station before). |

Edited by: Jerry Navigator on 16/06/2011 13:59:19 Forget about scout, warp stabs, warping to planet... If you are in low-sec 1 jump from high-sec, pirates can catch you ONLY at the station. 1. Undock 2. if enemies are at station -> stop the ship, wait for timer (24 sec), dock back ; repeat 1. in 5 minutes 3. if no enemies at station, just warp directly to the gate and jump to high sec; nobody can catch you (no bubbles in low-sec)

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I have decided just to "man up" and go for it when local looks clear, using the advice given.

Here we go...
Pro tips:
1) Fit buffer SHIELD tank (not active!) Even cheap T1 mods will do
2) If you can put nanos in the lows it's even better. Warp stabs could help, 2 of them, since they usually keep the infinitypoint interdictors at gates and they won't prevent you from warping once there.
3) if you have a scout it's 100 times easier
4) If you are right before / past DT till about 2pm EvE time it's the best time to do that. LAter there will be populace around.
5) If you don't have a scout, undock, then PRESS CTRL SPACE. This will let you be invulnerable for up to 30 seconds so you can see the situation while not getting too far away from the station and be unable to re-dock in case you get visits.
6) Best would be if you made an instant undock. If you see a planet on your path warp to 100km off it not to the gate. If your ship has to steer a lot (and stations spit ships at high speed) it'll take forever to turn a BS.
Edit: when I say "planet", I mean it. If you warp to a moon in low sec you WILL be scrambled and killed some of the POSes out there.

Shield extenders make them lock you faster. Better to just nano up :)

And? That's a low skilled character moving the bulkiest non capital ship with no low sec experience. Do you believe any aggressor would have any issue locking him up even if he was plated (=> slow to align => even worse)?

Just for future reference, you could also use Black Frog to move anything up to 360km3 safely to highsec from any lowsec or nullsec NPC station. --------------------------------

lol we're talking about one jump from low sec to high sec people, not a 20 jump run through hostile territory in 0.0 with bubble camps everywhere.
Just go to the station in your pod. Check if there is any one camping the station. If not undock warp to gate jump. Now you are in high sec and all safe and cozy again.

In the future, should anyone ask a similar question, the accuracy of our advice should be dependent upon it being a vanity ship or not.

VV, I don't think he meant don't go for the shield extenders, use plates instead. He actually said, don't go for the shield extenders, just nano up instead.
The goal being to not get him locked in the first place, since, as you said, he's a low skilled character and if they get a point on him you can expect him to lose his ship.
But yeah, it's one jump in low sec. Make sure no one is outside the station, undock, fly out. Glad to see you made it out.
