Stuff happens, what would be nice though is a little update, we know somethings up and are working on it, sorry guys. but nope we get very little in the way of feedback or updates, however CCP is not alone in this, customer service in general these days in rubbish, you would have though with the economy the way it is, companies would work harder at their customer service.

Unfortunately, even eight years after its release, EVE still has no true competition. If EVE goes bust (spiritually or financially), that's it for the genre.

You know what really annoys me, I have it marked on my account for everything "NO PAPER STATEMENTS! AS IM A TREE HUGGER" and today I check my mail and theres nothing but paper statements.
There was even a letter to confirm they have received my instructions for no paper statements, wtf

A message from our COO.
At 17:00 UTC today, CCP became aware of a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) against the EVE Online cluster and web servers.
Our policy in such cases is to mobilize a taskforce of internal and external experts to evaluate the situation. At 17:55 UTC, that group concluded that our best course of action was to go completely offline while an exhaustive scan of our entire infrastructure was executed.
While some may feel that such a drastic reaction was not warranted, it is always our approach to err on the side of caution in order to ensure the best possible service for our players and the security of their personal, billing and account information.
We understand the effect this disruption has had for our players and apologize for not having been able to explain fully to the community what was going on. In these cases it can often be counterproductive to containment to give out information while we are in the process of evaluating the scope of any potential problem.
Our taskforce concluded at 22:05 that neither the game servers nor the CCP infrastructure had been breached. Further, we can also confirm that no personal details such as usersĘ credentials or credit card numbers were exposed through this incident.
The servers were brought back online at 23:00 and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.
Again, we sincerely apologize for this disruption.

UPDATE: Shortly after service was restored to the EVE Online Tranquility server, the CCP Security Task force became aware of ongoing traffic flooding which prompted them to take the server offline. At 00:30 UTC, Tranquility was brought online again and is being closely monitored. Please be advised that we are prepared to take the server offline again if warranted. We thank you again for your patience and apologize for any inconvenience and sincerely thank you for your continued patience.

Its not the case of an extended DT as its to be expected after the DDOS attacks, its the fact that CCP still feel they can stick 2 fingers up at its userbase on such regular occasions by failing to communicate what exactly is going on.

Well Evemon says the server is online BUT I can not log in, I get server status: unknown. This looks like two nights ago when players were on and I couldn't get in....this is getting old fast!

It's very frustrating.
To a degree I'll accept the lost play from updates, patches, patches of patches, patches of patches of patches, start up glitches etc.
I'll even accept it all with good grace unlike other TZ's who get one outage a year and scream blue murder for "free" SP or game time.
I can't accept though the simple lack of courtesy to drop by the forum and post an update.

Just restarted the client after seeing a countdown timer to start up (which ended up as being unknown server status, LOL). Mebbe the interns are playing "hide the weenie" games in the server room? ROFL!

ANOTHER Tranquility server startup failure...
WHY am i not surprised?
But due to the recent hacking crap, i was kinda expecting this.... extended DT to resolve some.... isssues that may have appeared.
CCP no customer support, as ALWAYS, they say **** all to us. so we dont know whats going on.
Erm.... Anything but WoW. But this is rediculous.

EVEMon says online (14408 pilots).
So I tried logging in to eve, "starting up".
You would expect the login servers to be running when 14 thousand people are logged on, odd.

Would be ok if CCP stating at 14.50 GMT that we have an extended DT til 15.00 (Which will clearly be 15.40).
