you know, with as much as eve has been knocked down the past few days, I think CCP should credit every account for those 2 days, I know its not their fault, but its not ours either and we pay them to keep this up so that we can log into eve when we have free time and it be up and running when we do so. I am sure that this down time from the attacks has caused alot of players to lose game time because of it happening during the only free time they have to play (some people have jobs and can't log on anytime 24/7) like a friend of mine said, they wouldn't do that to WOW so easy (oooo I mentioned another game....ban me) wow is not one big world on one datacenter like eve is... so maybe CCP should worry more about stopping **** like this from happening again more than pushing out expansions on time. thanks for the server downtime, my alt is now deactivated due to the attacks and the plex I had gotten for it before the downtime is now sitting in the cargo useless... wonder how many other people have that problem right now... if CCP credited us for just one of those days they were down, that would be enough, and I would still have both accounts, but since all this I think I am done for good, if anyone is interested in my main account (which is still active) msg me and u can have it

I'm PRETTY SURE that they have somewhere in that big wall of text that you agreed on that they said somewhere that 100% uptime wasn't garanteed

You should just be glad that CCP is actually competent enough to withstand attacks like that. Most companies aren't.
Also, drink some beer and chill out.

I politely disagree with you and think that CCP actually handled the attack quite well. But obviously there is a lot we will never know about it. Personally I appreciated the statement from the COO. But don't be so upset about the 50 cents or 1 dollar worth of time. My 2 cents.

ok just for you info incase you dont follow their thread etc.. They have hacked certain wow servers, and many level 85 toons no longer exist....
So yep blizzard is bigger but they damn sure aint untouchable like your 'friend' makes out..... now what will blizzard do for the players suffered loss.... I CAN TELL YOU -- Feck all... my account got hacked and although they receoverd some items, not all my items could be traced and blizz's response was well though **** live with it....not our problem
And finally... learn paragraphs...
edited for another point
WoW has downtimes that account for pretty much a whole day of play, CCP have 30mins per day (then its more likely 20mins {so 2.5hours per week) so which game has most uptime.... even when they get DDOS attacked.. and it happened again last night. your out of game 1horu... geez.... and why should they give you SP you toon is still training and if it aint training then thats your fault not ccp.

thats hacking a server, not flooding a datacenter, totally different... and I doubt they could flood all of blizzards datacenters

Great idea!!!!!!!
Then, lets say I'm going away for a week and can't play... what do I do?
Cool I can DDoS the Eve servers and not pay for it whilst I'm away! Wicked idea, ******.
It's the same reason why you don't negotiate with terrorists; you cannot allow positive outcomes from their crimes.

There's this button on your account management page that lets you reactivate your accounts for 4 hours. You could use that 4 hours to activate the plex on that downed alt, however, since you're leaving, you can just go ahead and use it as an opportunity to contract me all of your things.

Wow, just wow. I can not believe how much some people are whining about a couple of hours game time lost. EVE is without a doubt one of the most stable MMOs out there, with by far the best customer service. CCP seems to have handled this childish DDoS attack far better than most companies are capable of, but still you guys some how think that you are entitled to game time back, or SP reimbursement.
I have news for you, people lost capital ships because of the DDoS attack last night. I am sure some disorganized players where unable to get fuel in to their worm holes and lost POSes over this. Where are all the threads complaining about that? There are none, because any EVE player worth anything realizes that getting disconnected due to server problems, or their ISP, or the computer frying is always a possibility. They plan accordingly by not risking what they can not afford to lose, and keeping a full skill queue.
Actually, come to think of it, I do not remember any of these demands for SP reimbursement back when there was no skill queue, and server outages were much more common back then.

Fortunately, but CCP deserves much worse for giving its longstanding pc customers the finger with DUST.

@OP Read the EULA, CCP is in no way responsible for the servers being down, they are under no obligation to credit you anything. It is all in that "little" thing that everyone skips over when you first install EVE.

which brings me to another point, if u cant even play for an extended amount of time without worrying if your gonna get knocked off line while out in space somewhere, and lose your ship because of it.... then what is the point in logging in? CCP set themselves up as an easy target for this kind of stuff to happen when they made it one big world running one datacenter... that makes them a very easy target for flooding and knocking the servers down, which honestly... CCP should have known the risk in that when they did it

Risk versus reward? Unfortunate timing? Not everything can go smooth y'know (as far as I heard, there was a large fleet fight somewhere in the North during the first attack) :l
Also, I'm pretty sure CCP knows the risk of having one server.

I feel the need to point something out. They did not attack Tranquility, they attacked the log in server. They do this because it is a) exposed and b) a choke point in most systems. Take out the log in server, and you don't NEED to attack the super-cluster because no one can get to it. CCP opted to take down Tranquility in the event that the DDoS was a precursor to a security breach (A very wise move).
They could attack WoWs log in server in a similar fashion, and in fact the WoW log in does go down from time to time. Either from attacks, or just general network hassles.

I actually think they did pretty well concidering I didn't expect they would have the server back up that day. I was able to get on and do what I needed to do.

I lost an evening's EVE playtime due to the DDOS. During that time I watched some TV, surfed the net, and kept an eye on EVE's Facebook page.
While I was doing this, CCP were moving quickly and competently to protect their investment - our game called EVE, and the many many years of fun, experience, and virtual assets that the playerbase has built up. And I think they should be thanked for it.
*****ing about a few hours lost playtime is nothing compared to what could have happened. The whiners, like the OP, need some perspective.
