i understand fully that this game is like no other and that runs on a single server. but the way in which ccp tries to get as much money out of players as possible has begun to occur to me . I think this and a few other reasons are why eve fanbase is small in comparison to other games for instance 14.95 euros a month plex through the roof $34.99 for a 60 day gtc alts This new AUR system that costs plex The new $99 license for devs Does anyone agree or am i just trolling :) thanks kx

What about playing for free with PLEX for ISK and free expansions? That's $0.

So far, Eve online still stes itself apart from all other games, namely that with a monlty subscription & being good at the game, you don't need to shell out extra cash. Plex can be bought with isk, wich converts to Aurum. Most other games that offer MT don't allow this, only being able to get items from their Itemshop with real money, or by recruiting lots & lots of people.
The PLEX prices itself actually regulate themselves. The higher a PLEX costs ingame, the more GTC's are bought, higher offer: prices drop. The lower a PLEX costs ingame, the less people are inclined to sell them, rising the prices as there's a lower offer. So PLEX prices are dictated by players. In theory CCP can intervene, but doubt they will, unless it's clear someone wants to play the market heavy.
Alts as in different are a personal choice, EVE is a MMO, so you can choose to either play with friends, or with yourself. Both have advantages or disadvantages ofcourse. I play a single account, while there have been moments I wish I had a secont char, there also have been moments I would never have experienced if I used alts.
The 99dollar thing license allows people to make profit off EVE IP. This was NOT avaible before. Before you were not allowed to sell any EVE IP for profit. I see donations exempt from the rule as you can't check those, way too easy to abuse the system else. -------------- Cleaning up wrecks others leave behind! Got to keep space clean! |

Pro Tip: The subscription for monthly service for eve is way less then that of other MMOs..
The plex price going through the roof has nothing to do with how much you spend to buy plex with real money. That never changes.
There is no 99$ fee I have no clue what your talking about.
The new AUR system dose not cost real life money... It costs plex.

Hmmmm - hours of fun and entertainment for $14.95 a month (or less with multi-month charges) x 2 Acconts (less than $30)
Taking wife to see a Movie - 2 x $11 = $22 Buying Popcorn and a couple of drinks = $10 Petrol cost to get to theatre $10
i.e. around $42 for a couple of hours of entertainment - try doing that a couple of times a month.
Getting the wife to pilot my 2nd account mining barge while watching TV - $priceless!!!!

Ok...
Thats BIG LULZ
That is freaking troll. LOL AHHAHAAHAH
99$ to host a site that uses the EVE API... Yeah I don't think that is going to go over well. I am going to be honest I have no idea where this came from... I am caught way off guard.
Still it is somewhat hilarious as GoonSwarm Federation is going to have to pay 99$ a month to host their recruitment scam site.

If you play the game right, you can get it to pay for itself via PLEX.

I hate to correct you again. However, its $99 a year with no other fees.
Not $99 a month.

It's $99 per year...which I think is a reasonable price for a commercial license from any company

Well, PLEX was never meant to be a free lunch, just an option and even at "those prices," it's still free game time if you meet them.

It's $99 a year to make money off API services, free license if the API service is free. This has nothing to do with actually playing Eve. No one is forcing anyone. Any half wit program should turn a profit. A smartphone app could be made by a player and if they just sold 21 copies a year at $5 a piece they make a profit off Eve.
Also consider Eve expansions are free, and some other MMOs charge for this.

There are other F2P MMOs out there. Technically you could play them while paying zero. Even zero cost is too much for me for those. EVE... well, I'm here, aren't I ? Granted, if not for PLEX, I might be taking some breaks every now and then, but still. _

Probably because this is not a children's MMORPG but one for grownups, I'm sure the average player age is somewhere mid-twenties, might even be older.
Most of these people have full-time jobs and above-average incomes as EVE isn't for stupid people.
Because of this, CCP knows that people are able and willing to pay the amount they ask, and it isn't that bad, after all, you can always pay with ISK. -

If you want to whine about EVE costing too much, at least include that it basically requires you to have an alt account for good chunks of gameplay. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

A night out? When I lived in Oslo it would be about ú200, or $300, on beer alone.
Add to that the ***s, any solids which may (accidentally) pass my lips and we're looking at about three hundred quid and then one has to totter home in the morning light (which in winter was about lunchtime).
So, three hundred quid compared to what we pay. A night out on the razz in the perfectly acceptable Norwegian capital is about two years game time of Eve.
Someone needs a sense of persepective.

Don't forget the 0.0 anomaly nerf. Causes casual 0.0 players to look for other means to buy those expensive T2 ships, such has buying a plex to sell to supplement the lost income. CCP wants your money before the game tanks.
