space fox	Posted - 2005.02.17 12:07:00 - [1] sure we have destroyers, but they are pure anti frig, id love to see corvetts, a small scale blokade runner, and the bulk of them having 2-3 higslots fitting cruiser size weapons, greater than frig amour and sheilds, but frigate speeds. these babys are frig - cruiser hybirds, someone took a cruisers engines, cut a pair of frigs up, wellded them into one and put a few guns on. their main purpos is a 1.5mill - 2mill platform for pvp. being able to fit these cruiser size guns with the spped they have means they can outrun bs while still givving a decent amount of damge, while being a target for frigs and a harder target for destroyers. im thinking the caldari one would look like high slots - 3 missel slots - 2 gun slot - 2 med slot - 2 low - 1 pg and cpu to fit a few cruiser guns and a mwd double frig hp base speed of 400ms this is just a idea

A ship with a large hold (maybe ~1000m3), wicked speed, and a natural defense against warp scramblers, but no offensive capability beyond a pea shooter and some defenders. And maybe have a smuggling ship bonus. Like +1 Warp Core strength per level, and -15% chance of customs detection per level. CCP could call it the Millenium Falcon series.

What do we have now? 2 ships(frigs/destroyers) with small guns 2 ships(cruisers/battlecruisers) with med guns ONE ship(battleships) with large guns I consider ints to be a sub-class of frigs just like assault frigs are a sub-class of frigs. What would be perfect : changing names of cruisers to CORVETTES.Changing names of battlecruisers to CRUISERS.Changing names of battleships to BATTLECRUISERS. Then,add in battleships. Now we got 2 ship types of each weapon class.Perfect for upcoming titan/dreadnaught XL turrets.

If CCP did that they wouldnt be the first either.Freespace 2 had the battleships termed as destroyers and cruisers were actually the weakest capital ship in the game,followed by corvettes then destroyers. And no one kicked up a large fuss about it,it was the marketing that killed the game. Seriously no one should be that concerned on "hey but corvettes in real life are smaller than destroyers!",and instead,play the damn game

Typherin laidai	Posted - 2005.02.18 13:18:00 - [13] Actually as far as I know a Corvette was larger than a Fighter but smaller than a frigate and where designed to engage other Fighters/corvettes/Frigates. As we dont have any of those cept frig's (unless you want to call a drone a fighter) this idea seems pretty redundant. It has allways puzzled me though why this game has a frig as the smallest ship class ? could we not have started in Fi's and worked up.... hmmm nvr mind Typherin LaiDai Care Negotitations Expert level 5 'Give me a position of power and I'l abuse it in an instant'
Jack Amarr	Posted - 2005.02.18 20:06:00 - [14] in my knowledge, i always thought frigates were quite big, and interceptors were quite puny and only good in packs. like the idea about that smuggleing ship, make it half cruiser and half indy. could make it pirate ship design as well. the thng about more variety for non noobs is a bit wrong. thing of all the heavy assult ships and logistics and ships like that. i'm sure ccp will soon make tech 2 destroyers and tech 2 battle cruisers as well. there is also the rumors and a few facts about some bigger ships comeing out. eg drednoughts and carriers (ships that can carry a big abould of xl drones) and of course titans!! so don't worry, there will be more ships on route. they just released transport ships as well. and who ever said there was lack of variety in ships is tlking s**t. 100+ ships now thats alot -------------------------- Amarr but not proud of it!

I believe frigates are FF's. A Frigate with a Helicopter would be FFH. Also, CG is Cruiser Guided Missile (FFG for a Guided missile frigate...or a Kestrel), I think Cruiser is CC...Light Cruiser CL. And CV, because I have this nugget of information, is Carrier Heavier Than Air (that's the V). Star Fleet Battles uses DN for Dreadnought...which could work here. I'd rather refer to BB's in Eve that way rather than BS (hate that)...but I guess people thing Blackbird then. <shrug> :D That's just my pet peeve. Corvettes (which would be FS --> fast escort/corvette)are really just heavy fighters...Patrol boats could be corvettes.
