I agree with all points you made.
the 'blockade' (lol) missions in >=0.5 should be changed so that Concord blows up the mission npcs and player gets nothing.

Well said, and well written. Expessed many of my feelings in the game to a tee.

Very constructive post .
I agree with everything, despite the isk sink part, due to my lack of interest for mining, npcing or agent whoring i must fight to keep my wallet to a decent level :p
Indeed the wealth gathering part of eve need to be more challenging, more fun and player interaction based.

Digi - thats one of the best posts I've read on here for a very long time.
I remember back in Beta when we had NO MAP.... and man was it better than what we have today. you had to learn where you were, learn the connections.... and jumping into a new system felt more dangerous, as you never knew what awaited you on the other side of the gate.
get rid of it, we'll all have more fun.

Perhaps leave some of the choke pionts for the deeper 0.0 where the rarest ores are, but make areas which are 0.1-0.3 contain some 0.0 systems that dont require you going though one of 10 or so choke pionts. PPL have ISK, and lots of it, but no places to loose it without almost certain death trying to run a 0.0 choke gate. More open 0.0, more fighting, more np hunting more isk changing hands... ------------------ (_8(|) BEWARE. EBIL HOMER. IF SPOTTED CALL THIS NUMBER 0-800-I-C-HOMER |

Edited by: Alex Harumichi on 18/02/2005 10:52:12 Good post, very much agree. Remove the no-brainer map (& related info), add more ways into 0.0 and reasons to go there. I'd like to see insurance massively reduced, the current situation where you can lose a bs and just go buy a new one with the insurance money is silly. Make insurance cost more the more you use it, like real-world insurance, and maybe provide a newbie-friendly better insurance for the first couple of months or something.
Added: more open 0.0 would also have the benefit of forcing alliances to claim smaller areas, or more exactly areas that are only as large as they can defend. Right now the choke points and corridors make defense much too easy, and we get the current situation of tiny alliances laying claim to huge areas just by camping a choke point. Open up 0.0 a bit (and reduce map info), and they would be forced to actually patrol "their" area. More fun and combat for everyone.
Right now most of 0.0 is empty, and getting emptier. I doubt this is what CCP intended.

I've been playing for around 3 months now ( 1 before exodus, and 2 after ). and I definitly sign DC's post, what he is suggesting would indeed make this game much more fun to play, and more challenging.
Which I think is needed, reinstating the weekly def-player meet sounds like a good idea aswell, although the devs read the forums ofcourse.( alteast I hope so ) ------ ARIN Recruiter

Wholeheartedly agree, especially on the chokepoints and safespots issues. Maybe wars will be Player vs Player instead of Player vs Bookmark? :)
As for the isk sinks? Hmmm... Boosters (eventually?) last a moment or two and if they are expensive enough maybe that will do the trick as you'd need to carry a stack of them around.
Also, great point about the chokepoint systems. I really couldn't say without giving it a lot of thought how I feel this should be handled, however it certainly needs change. |

A billion a week?!
Damn, I should start doing that sort of thing then, I'm as usually well below 100m so ISK sinks don't seem to be lacking where I'm standing.

OH I forgot...
Digi is a filthy rich man. The people buying stuff for 3 billion are filthy rich.
HOWEVER... how many people are that filthy rich? Hundreds? Thousands?
How many they are, they are a minority in this tens of thousands game. Don't be blinded by your and theirs hefty wallets, there is plenty of lesser wallets out there.

Nice Shot digi,
second that - not all but the most things indicate that there is an more and more ongoing to have eve transformed to an space-mission-get-isk`s-and-an-caldari-navy-raven game. i would understand that if the missions would be really interesting (even after 1000 extravaganzas etc), but not even the environment needs to be fixed up an got an state which is reasonable -> "state of the art". the missions needs to be ajusted to me more interactive . maybe some corp missions (where an corp gets an mission assigned which needs more than one pilot doing it), more interactive missions where an convoy need to be escorted and so on. there are many ideas possible these days ;-).
my 2 cents!
things i want to mention besides: fix the projectile weapons parameters AND raising my labslot from 100k isk to 1.5 billion isk in notime - makes me really demotivated to research any longer and will be surely no help for players researching smaller items for their use. (maybe someone want to buy the labslot??? )

1. PVP - Scanner needs work, do you consider the only thing that needs to be done is lessening scan times?
- Map. We can dumb down pilots in space, but is that the solution? As you say, it's double edged. We tested a solution in Exodus where it was skill based range. Another would have a delayed (20 min) or averaged count (over 20 min) shown.
My only question is, do you really think these two things would stop blobbing - or make it that much more interesting?
2. Environment
This plan is being written up as we speak, focusing on new environments and professions. A big part of the framework made in Exodus is allowing us to expand in directions involving an environment such as a comet, almost entirely done by Art and Content people (Read: Minimal Programming). Part of this is exactly to reward exploration.
Mining? Well, the amount of lows sucked out of Empire every day ain't exactly small, it's more that the 0.0 players have more nubs grabbing ore for them. There is a variation in ores right now, and even that is a frequent dispute (bring teh whaambulance, we don't have Ark X jumps from a refinery).
But as an example, moon resources are locationally distributed, and so will all the new environments be. Ice is also regionally distributed but the uppers there are more general.
I wouldn't shuffle the ores right now, but rather make them smaller parts of the manufacturing process, which is already happening with TL2 components and will get even more so in the future.
3. ISK
ISK sinks. If the aim is to sink out ISK through risk it has to be achieved by so that it affects the right population. If it isn't, we'll just sink out new players and eventually, we'll only have old gimps like you and me running around in Titans and no new influx of nubs to mine for us.
ISK sinks have gotten an increased priority in new systems, but some have introduced new ISK infusions. In the long term however, burning ISK will get more prevailant than before, and preferably, sinked out at the right levels of the playerbase.
Regarding Starbases, we went the safe road there with their current vulnerability. It's better that they are too safe than too vulnerable. We're now introducing smaller Control Towers, which are naturally more vulnerable, but allow corporations to have more smaller ones, with less invested in each of them.
It also allows an easier entry, but again, this might "sink" out ISK at the wrong stage, but still, it's as you say more challenging.
CSM's are coming back in a new form. Until then, I believe you have my private email, which you have sent me bribes to in the past. I now accept WOW gold too. _____________________________ I say hey sky, s'other say I won say, I pray to J I get the same ol' same ol. |

Agree with Riddari: billionaires in EvE are just as old and rare as billionaires anywhere else (except pre-Euro Italy) Agree with Digi: most everything else (especially the money sinks - maybe... corp tax?)
These are the kinds of things I wait for, not the randomness of webbers or a new "sort" feature for my hangar.
Take heed please.

I dont want to **** on your bonfire but the changed u propose are good for Vets that have alot of isk but what about newer players that cant afford to goto 0.0 and loose ships i know if i lost afew of my bs's id be screwed.... new players like my wife have 9 mill isk.... and shes going to have a job getting more, So making 0.0 harder to mine isnt a good idea and also forcing people to go into 0.0 to get to places looks like you just want some place to gank n00bs.... i know id be sat there in a apoc and raven on my other account doing that getting cheap thrills
PVP Should be a choice
There should be a law enforcer that allows people under a certain amount of skill points to have in so they cant be attacked... by other players nuff said... (And no im not a carebear im a full on PVP thats why i play...)
