Apparently everyone here spent the day glued to their computers and are willing to QQ and rage quit and swear off the alliance tournament forever -- but can someone please explain what happened in the final to get everyone so ticked off?
Thanks :-)

Outbreak and Hydra were both the same team (surprise) and they kinda threw the match. Nothing strange.

- HYDRA had a large AT team so split it in half - Both halves went on to beat everybody else - Met in the final - Threw the final (****ed up the intended show) - End of tournament ------

Summary:
Hydra and Outbreak both fought masterfully and metagamed beautifully through the group matches and the bracket to ensure that they would be the two teams in the final. In the final, they fought until it was obvious that Outbreak was the victor at which point Outbreak turned off their guns and allowed Hydra to win.

So why is everyone upset? That is what makes EVE unique and a beautiful snowflake

You should have seen the CCP staff/experts face afther match, they didn't even say one word about the final just rushed to end the show.
The tourney it's a TV show too and a TV shows scope is to entertain the viewers. While meta gameing/scammeing is perfectly fine on TQ in the tournament it's totaly boreing. With that they didn't just upset the viewers from whom most won't watch the tourney next year, but also made void EVE TV's crew hard work on the show.

This. How about we treat alliance tournament as something unique. Without all the metagame trolling as in all other aspects of eve gameplay?

Confirming that if I knew the tourney would end this way, I wouldn't of wasted my day watching it. I was actually really excited to see a small alliance doing so well and the match vs. DarkSide was great.
Too bad it got urinated up the wall.

Maybe you should get friends & a life and you won't be so disappointed when you "waste your day watching" internet spaceships blow each other up.
Oh, and it's 'wouldn't have' not 'wouldn't of' -- but if you'd made it past third grade English you'd know that already.

I'm sorry that you're disappointed in every other teams disappointment in the alliance tournament to allow the two best teams to make it to the final. ---

^ that -- what is everyone so upset about? Two teams made it to the final and two teams decided to play the game the way they chose.

While doing that they spit in the face the viewers and EVE TV's crew hard work put in the show.
There is nothing wrong with how they got in the finals, the problem is how they did performed on the live screen... They could have just killed each other and have things sorted behind the scenes, this way every1 whould have been happy

1.The fact anyone was surprised that the match got thrown is amusing.
2.It is possible that this is just the first one that was so obviously thrown (or perhaps Outbreak did a poor job of tossing the match).
The difference this year is that this tourney had RL sponsors paying RL money to hawk RL products. It will be interesting to see what reaction (if any) the sponsors will have to the sham of this final.
EvE within TQ has few rules and meta'ing entire regions isn't unheard of. If companies like EVGA and Logitech don't care then no one else will. If however they liken this to match fixing, either CCP will have to scale back this shindig after losing sponsors or change the rules to make match fixing a tad more difficult.
Its unlikely meta'ing will be eliminated even if CCP wanted to but it could be made a tad harder. |

Why amusing? Because we're supposed to expect EVE players to behave childishly, to engage in narcissistic, self-congratulatory display rather than respect anything outside than themselves, say, for example, the ideal of a tournament or the audience of fans that had gathered.
Perhaps worst of all is that it could have so easily have been so very, very different....
These players could have done everything they did to dominate the tournament and get to a final face off against each other. And then they all they had to do, instead of their stupid little charade, was give us the match we expected: a genuine test of skill, a fight to the death between the two best teams in EVE. And we'd all be screaming our heads off cheering them.
Instead they shamed themselves, shamed the Tournament, and shamed all but the most trollish of EVE players, of which there is sadly no shortage braying in this forum.
CCP is going to be hard pressed to use the Tournament next year to generate buzz in the ramp up to DUST.

Lol, the majority of people are dissapointed dude. As you know nothing about my life you're not exactly in the position to tell me to get one. I'm interested in this game, therefore I was interested in the tourney.
Also 'wouldn't of' rolls off the tongue easier, and it hasn't caused me any significant problems so far ;).
Sorry for getting you mad enough to grammar **** and make personal insults.

Crap wait, those kinda smart remarks only reside in old WoW players, telling your old buddys to go back to a game you dont like annymore isnt really nice.

It may or not have been said, (I didn't feel like weeding through all the trolls) but here is my perspective:
This was my first time watching AT, and after it having such a time wasting ending I probably won't waste my time watching it again. Not that i'm angry about it. i just feel it's pointless to watch a scripted match. And i am not the only one to feel this way.
It is for this reason that rules need to be changed and disqualifications to be set in place. Obviously alot of energy was put into this event and to throw the final match is kinda a slap in the face to everyone.
Beyond that the more things like this happen during events the less attention will be focused on events. AT has already lost veiwers for next year, and CCP hopefully will put steps in place to avoid that again
