in my opinion, it was not staged til the moment, where it absolutly was clear, who was going to win. They started the fight, smashed themself in the faces and when Hydra would have lost the match ... they stopped and had a bit of fun for themselves.
They (both teams, even if its one alliance in real) put in a lot of effort to get that far, a lot of training, logistics in wormholes etc etc. They deserved their fun !
if they where able to bring 2 teams that far, you should have even more respect of their abilities and not flame them.
One can argue, that it was unfair, that they brought 2 teams to the tournament, but afaik other alliances did that as well.
i, honestly can see nothing wrong with that, its all about fun as it only a game in the end.
and to all the people thinking they can "remove" this kind of gameplay, they could have made it much more subtle, and no one would have noticed that it was staged. would that have made you happier?

Because the people who complain about the match are ragers who enjoy the drama caused by overreacting.
It was a great tournament that was entertaining throughout.

I have the deepest respect for the effort they put into this. But the tournament ain't about who's best at pvp in the format CCP put up. It's about who can work the hardest of metagaming. To me, the tournament then becomes irrelevant and not worth watching. Why should I put any effort in testing set-ups, training like mad when my opponents knows exactly what I have and know how to counter it? What Hydra, 0utbreak and PL does is crapping on my effort.

I think you're looking at people who consider it "playing Eve" vs people who consider it "an eSport event". Considering that it was televised with paid commentators and had sponsorship and prizes, I'll let you decide which one CCP thinks it was. -- Eve Forum ***** Extraordinaire On Twitter

It's not 1 alliance tho, it's is 2. Outbreak have been in Hydra in the past, but not for long are their own entity. They joined Hydra to be in with them in the tourney then decided to go it alone, but train together.
OB is a 70 man alliance, it doesn't have resources to practice against itself.
2 great friends, worked hard together.
If anything OB should be congratulated for their honour to their friendship.. how tempting must it of been to finish the job once got them down to last few ships! The ultimate 'meta-game' opportunity. But they remained true.

Pretend the Merlin is Hydra and Outbreak, the alliance the pilot joins is the Alliance Tournament, and the people the Merlin pilot is trying to take down is PL.
Suddenly that video makes even more sense.
