Because it's not particularly relevant. Becauseà Quote: Which brings me to EVE. [à] Now, in real life.
àthis is where you go off the rails. Those two have nothing to do with each other. They're just borrowing terms that conjure up some very general concept that's somewhat related to the mechanic they want to name, and the details are not important. It is no different than calling the mechanic of not paying the full price at once "Margin Trading" or calling it salvage, when it's more like lagan.
They're just names of game mechanics. Any resemblance to real-life concepts is purely coincidental. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Or maybe they have more to do with one another than you suppose.

I suppose that "sovereignty" is an apt name for a mechanic that in the most general sense deals with territorial ownership. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Originally by: Vicker Lahn'se If you use your analogies, yes EVE is far from having adequate criminal repercussions. Your analogies, however, are quite a bit of a stretch.
Let's take can flipping for example. A jet can is a device that is produced when you jettison things. It's a garbage can for things you throw away. Mining into a jet can is like you leaving your valuables in your garbage can at the curb because you didn't bother to purchase an appropriate storage space. The police aren't going to arrest me if I take a CD player from your trash.
I would say a better analogy to can flipping would be this: I take a CD player from your trash and wave it in front of your face. I taunt you, make fun of you, and point out what a loser you are for leaving your CD player in such a stupid place. You respond by punching me in the face. I punch you back. Now we're just two nut jobs engaging in disorderly conduct. The police might intervene to the extent that they will break up our fight, send us home, etc. After things quiet down and the police go on their way, I can come back and rummage through your garbage again. The story would be different if I broke into your house and stole your CD player from your room, but that's not what happened.
By far the funniest response, and the most valid without dipping into dubious logic. You win the prize! A mustard covered CD - The Doctor Demento Anthology. I guess we can now immerse ourselves in the WTF's with this update?? posts.
Thanks everyone (who did) for giving this some thought. There were several points raised I hadn't considered.
Be cool, and fly safe.
