Dunno, what keeps me and I'd guess most people that pvp mainly in lowsec from nullsec apart from the occasional roam is more the hotdrop happyness and overkill response even a small gang prompts. (Though admittely, lowsec is going in that direction as well.)

Really? I've spent all my eve career in a corps with at most 5 people active at peak times until faction warfare came out.
I still prefer gangs of around 5 people, but there simply isnt much room for that anymore if you also have to pay for ships with your pvp. (And are living in an area that has more than 3 jumps per day traffic.)

Whatever floats your boat, its your subscription afterall. I mostly enjoy very small gangs too, doesnt mean I leave fleets though when we have a megablob of 10-12 savages roaming though... to each their own.
