I have three separate clients. Is there a way to patch them without downloading the patch 3 times?
Sorry if this is a noobish question.

patch one client.. and run it three times... probably the easiest way.

Download on one client, run patch, unclick "clear up downloaded data" or whatever it says at the end.
Then just load up the next client and click download patch.... the installer will find the already downloaded patch.

After autopatcher finishes patching your 1st client it asks "do you want to clear the temporary files" or something like that. Make sure that it is not checked before you continue...
Now when you open your second client, it will not download anything... repeat the process client by client and when you patch the last one, let the installer clear the file.

dont clear the cached data thingy at the end when it finishes
yes, that one check box you always ignore...

If they are on separate PC's, do a manual D/L of the patch, then read up on manual updating on the patch webpage.

Running multiple accounts on a single client can cause lag and crashes. Using different installs for different accounts can stop this.

Don't use the auto-patcher. Download the patch once.

Install it as listed here and you will only ever need to patch it once.

àand if all three clients are on the same (windows) computer, you can use junctions to just autopatch your one (actual) install, but make it behave like you have three different clients.

Some of us have long memories and prefer to use a seldom used alt account to see whats what. Its saved me a reinstall of a (main) client a couple of times.
Basically it boils down to "do you trust CCPs QA?". I don't. You obviously do.
