Nobody actually wanted to buy a monocle in the first place. They are just upset insanely mad that the monocle they didnt want anyway is too expensive.
If that makes sense.

Oh for the love of CLEAN OUT YOUR DAMNED EARS
CHANGES DO NOT EXIST IN A VACUUM
Do you know what those words MEAN? It means that the ultimate consequences of a change extend beyond the immediately visible. They set precedence and act as warning signs. Saying that you don't have to buy them is like being in a car that's speeding towards a cliff and justifying it on the grounds that you're not currently dead.
This isn't about a slippery slope, this is about basic god damned pattern recognition. What makes you think this will end here? People will buy monocles. And then CCP will get it in their heads that, holy crap, people will pay large amounts of money for stupid ****! WHY STOP THERE? Why not start monetizing tons of things! The more money the better, and then we can make Eve Online a better game than ever before! It's just that it'll be a game with microtransactions. Sorry, macrotransactions.
One of these days CCP are going to come out with something wildly disagreeable, and I'm going to do a ****ing song and dance routine to a self-written country song about how I told you so.
AND THEN I WILL LAUGH

You're an idiot.
If all CCP wanted to do was make money, there are a thousand things they could easily change in eve to make it more appealing to the mass market. They don't want to do that, they value the game they have. Their vision of may not line up exactly with yours, but to say that they only care about making as much money as possible with no regard for the quality of their game is just pure idiocy.

This. I hate doing business with people who want to rip me off as opposed to simply making a good profit.

It¦s not too bad, as long as they do not enter the gameplay area. You know, an exclusive, uber nice ship for 100 dollars or 20,000 gold.
