I've been playing Eve for a while but I've never figured out killboards. Every corp and pilot seems to have 90% isk efficiency. How can every pilot kill 10 times more than they lose? Shouldn't it be zero sum?

if 40 people kill a 1 bil isk carrier, each one gets +1 billion isk on their personal killboard.

^ what he said. And also, when you are on a 20 man fleet fighting another 20 man fleet, odds are that you're going to be part of a couple of kills before you yourself get primaried.

Yeah... My so-called killboard on Battleclinic shows something like a 1:2 kill:loss ratio for ISK. That's no where near accurate.
In every case where I was on the winning side of a fight, I was one of many. Once as a tackler and a couple times in a Caracal. I doubt the missiles I fired from that Caracal ever even got to their target before the rest of my gang destroyed the enemy ships.
If the killboards were more accurate, my kill:loss ratio would be closer to 1:100.

TL;DR: Killboards are innacurate pieces of ****, and anyone who judges you solely by killboard stats is an idiot.
That said, they can be useful for intel purposes. -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.

Kill boards provide history of kills and losses you have (if all are posted).
Statistics are more complex thing but if you know how to analyze those you can figure out what kind of player is, looking his fits on losses, how many people are on his loss/kill mails etc...
So any number does not directly tell anything about player, example solo players have usually lot of more losses than blob fighter per kill.
If you try to get good stats on kill board it might be boring on long term, better way is to go to fight and see what happens. Usually when you learn to pvp you will get quite good stats on kill boards without trying.

You get the full isk value for a kill regardless of how many people get on a mail or how little damage you did. Even the best solo-pvp'ers only get 75-80% efficiency whilst a really bad fleet player who flies no damage mod drakes will get 98%.
The isk efficiency stat is basically meaningless but you can work out what a player is like by taking a quick look through their killmails, parties involved and losses.

You must be trying to suck.
Originally by: Leeroy McJenkins There is no real pvp in EVE, there is only winning or losing and then feeling :smug: about winning or sore about losing. There is nothing wrong with this arrangement.
