i too attempted this but i cant seem to find the place to download the client without paying steam to get eve at the same time. I tried the eve demo hoping it would allow me to just log in but it seems this demo is still at incursions and not incarna, it starts to load but then the computer forgets its trying to load the eve demo (incursions)

I finally got it to work by using the normal installer again and doing that form of install instead of the offline install like I had been trying when the auto-updater failed the first time. I was pretty tense when it started verifying the files again, lol.
Dunno if it made the difference, but I did set my memory back to stock defaults of the motherboard just in case.
Thanks again for trying to help guys.

Edited by: Thom Baron on 24/06/2011 07:30:42 perhaps they've replaced the files on the server? I'm tempted to try again now, but I only have about 2 more shots at it before my download limit is reached... WOuld be nice if CCP could comment on the issue...

chalk up another 4.whatever gigs of downloads for nothing. - Whoever it was to get the online installer to work for you, be very very pleased with yourself, because I'm still not getting anything but corruption and failed repairs.

OK you last few have given me a sliver of hope. I had tried three times to download, after uninstalling EVE, because of the corrupt file situation. I had given up. I will try the normal installer one more time, then see about the workaround you posted at the beginning.

I give up. So much for supporting a site that does not support me. I am really depressed.

Those of us who philbes' method didn't work for are still waiting.
not just waiting for a fix, waiting for CCP to acknowledge the issue.
how many days has it been now?
at this point I will not be renewing my account, unless CCP somehow redeem themselves. not likely.

Hello!
So I've read over your thread, and am a little stumped as to why you're all seeing these corrupted downloads. CCP doesn't personally handle ensuring that the data gets to your computer intact: we use a Content Delivery Network provided by Level3 to shift data around the globe. I'm going to see if we can get any data out of them as to any issues that might be causing corrupted downloads of this kind, but I'm not optimistic about the results.
One thing that a coworker, CCP Mandrake, suggested today was that 7z has been rumoured to suffer problems when systems are ever so slightly unstable. Often hardware itself can seem stable enough, and we were wondering if anyone was running their system over-clocked in any fashion. I Love Boobies mentioned in their post here, that after resetting the memory timings to default, things might have corrected themselves. Are any of those still experiencing errors running over-clocked?
We're going to double check the Repair Tool too, since that should fix issues, and if that's failing then we should fix it.
I can't provide a bittorrent link, but I can probably knock up a metalink download from the CDN that many modern download utilities can make use of, that should at least detect corruption as it happens.

Hello!
So I've read over your thread, and am a little stumped as to why you're all seeing these corrupted downloads.
I tried downloading the files a second time, when people reported that the link wasnĘt working. There were different files being reported as corrupt, second time around. So that does point to the download process.
But isnĘt the issue more to do with the repair tool not being able to fix the errors? I know the offline install has now been split across two separate files, due to its increased size.
I should add that I tried this on two different PC's, both with different hardware setups. The repair tool just couldn't fix them, unless I unpacked the files first.

I've created a group of metalinks which will provide you with checksumming during download (when used in conjunction with a metalink compatible download application (list available here)) in case you're unable to download via standard methods.

The metalink solution worked for me. I didn't even have to use the repair tool. I used the Retriever client. Be advised, not all the software on that wiki page supports the link provided by CCP. You need to use a client that supports ".meta4" extension.

hey Kim, finally got mine to work today was a easy process in the end.
Excuse the capitals, but after spending the last 24 hours trying to get official install working, I can't help myself.
I'm afraid this will only work for those who can actually run the repair tool. I also unistalled EVE including all my settings, before trying this.
You may be able to back them up before you uninstall. But all I actually lost was some bookmark folders, my bookmakrs were still there. I just had to create the folders for them again. Also lost my market quick bar links, which again was no big deal.
Download the two files from here, if you haven't already:
http://cdn1.eveonline.com/eveonline_271273_1of2.7z http://cdn1.eveonline.com/eveonline_271273_2of2.7z
If you don't have it already, download and install winrar:
http://www.win-rar.com/download.html
You only need to enable the 7z extension.
After installing winrar open each of the files and extract to them the folder you want to run the game from. While it's extracting the files it may report some as being corrupt. For me, out of the 4 gigs worth of files, it turned out to be:
D:\eveonline_271273_1of2.7z: CRC failed in resCharacterModularMaleHairHiRes.stuff D:\eveonline_271273_2of2.7z: CRC failed in resDX9WorldObjects.stuff
When prompted select ok to overwrite any files.
Now download the repair.exe from here and run it from the folder you installed the files to:
http://cdn1.eveonline.com/client_repair/324/repair.exe
You may be able to run the one that was extracted into your folder, but I went with this version.
When it's done, install the DirectX drivers located in your EVE folder:
<Your EVE Folder>\bin\DirectX\DXSETUP.exe
Create a shortcut to the eve.exe by holding the right mouse button down on eve.exe and dragging to your desktop. Hope this helps someone else.
The last bit is the moest important make a shortcut of eve.exe. and download 7.ZIP. It works so any issues just post away

followed your instructions step by step
once the shortcut was created downloaded 7zip and also directX setup.
Clicked on the eve shortcut and this came up:
Verification error: C:\users\daron\Saved Games\bin\DirectX\dxnt.cab',crc:d773237c, expected:cb0fbf0b.

Depends what program you pick, I went with DownThemAll. That installs as a pluging into my Firefox browser (I had to give it permission). Once installed just right click on the meta link and select "Save Link With DownThemAll" and follow the prompts.
Quote: nce the shortcut was created downloaded 7zip and also directX setup.
Thats doesn't sound right, you create the shortcut once you have unpacked all the files with winrar or 7zip and rsn the repair tool. But if you have the bandwidth I would uninstall \ delete any eve files you have on your PC and use the meta links. They do appear to let you download without and problems now.
@CCP Atropos
Haven't tried the actual download yet, but both 7z files unpacked without reporting any errors, so I'm sure they will be ok, thanks.
Is it possible to make the meta links a regular feature with the updates? Dreading the thought of going through this again, every time a new patch is released.

Edited by: Aranis Warhurst on 28/06/2011 12:08:37 Download the "Retriever Download Manager". It's Java based so after you install it navigate to it's folder and started by double clicking the ".jar" app file. Look for the metalink CCP posted. The one that sends you to a page full of code. Copy that link and add a new download in Retriever. It worked for me.
