Actually it does, because it highlights the fact that MT has been in Eve since the introduction of PLEX. I can go and buy a few PLEX for RL money and buy a carrier or faction BS and pwn the **** out of some hapless noob and nobody complains. But do the same for a shirt that only I can actually see and suddenly the forum explodes into doomsday prophecies and splerging. It helps to put it in perspective.

1) Pay for subscription, being promised free updates/expansions for my money. Plus, being a spoiled person, living in the western world, I also expect the developers to update their existing software when the costumer would like them to do so. 2) They use their time to develop new features I don't want. It's like buying the Office pack 2010, and then a update for it comes with a new media player. 3) They expect me to pay stupidly huge amounts of money for stuff I don't want, don't need and don't do anything. 4) Nerd rage.

Here fixed it for you.
1) Buy plex of website for RL $$ 2) Sell plex in game. (players dictate how much PLEX are worth in isk - not CCP) 3) buy virtual items. (players dictate how much the items are worth in ISK - not CCP) 4) Shoot players.
CCP only supplied plex and a way to get money from other players in exchange for plex. CCP never sold items. CCP never spawned items out of blue in exchange for RL money -except for plex with was like an I.O.U. True micro transactions is the noble exchange where items are created from nowhere. In the old way, the isk from the plex trickled down to other players.

I was going to FYP this but it's pretty ridiculous as-is.
Sigh, I'll try.
1) CCP did update the engine, *coughSM3cough* which is part of the reason a lot of people are whining because their ****ty old filthy computers can't handle it. 2) I'll inform CCP lead developer team to CC you on any and all discussion on design and development to ensure that you personally are OK with their future plans. 3) If they expected you to pay anything they'd have made it mandatory. Thankfully, although their prices are hilariously high, you aren't forced to buy them to play the game the same way you did yesterday. 4) Correct.

1) Yes, they updated the engine with a new SM3 CQ Incarna, awesome. Ps. My computer isn't exactly ****ty, CQ currently eats a buttload of memory and GPU load. But the worst part, it doesn't do ANYTHING.
2) That would be GREAT! Also, maybe make them listen to the rest of the their costumer base too? Would also be awesome.
3) No, but I'm paying, partly, their wages. I would like something for it, like I said, I'm spoiled, I expect more than just a server running for my money.
Do you like paying taxes and the city keeps avoiding to maintain the roads, hospitals etc. but instead buys a lot of art, sticks it in a museum and expects a 60Ç entrance fee?

I've seen you post a lot, and you have a good point with the whole "MT being in EVE for ages" thing. Yeah, PLEX has been in for awhile, and, in reality, it is just a more complex form of micro-transactions.
The difference is when you buy a PLEX you would sell it for ISK. With that ISK you can buy anything you want, ships, turrets, ammo, whatever. These items are made by players in-game using in-game resources and subject to the in-game market. When it comes to Aurum and transactions through the store, there is no interaction with the in-game economy, no interaction with players, no sandbox; items just appear out of thin air.
It's not the micro-transactions themselves that are so bad, it's the complete disregard of the sandbox platform that EVE is built upon.

Just like Planetary Interaction products? Or mission loot? Or ore and ice from mining? Or various in game items that are still seeded at a fixed price by NPC agents?
