I'm not writing this to change anyone's opinion. I'm writing this to enlighten those who would say microtransactions are fine why exactly other people are so angry about it. It doesn't matter what they sell, and it isn't like PLEX hasn't been doing just about the same thing for a long time now. The thing that makes it wrong is what CCP promised us, for years.
We've all heard CCP rant about how internet spaceships is just the base of the game, but they're really focusing on this entire immersive EVE universe. For years we've waited for all of these amazing things CCP tells us they will be bringing, and all the while, paying our subscription fees.
Now in the past, games have generally been subscription based, or microtransaction ('free to play') based, and if it is subscription based, you assume that covers the costs of maintenance and further development. You cannot tell us for years about what you are bringing us while collecting our money, and then when the time comes to start putting out some new content (which you took your sweet time doing, and sorry, but fixing bugs does not constitute a 'free expansion'), you charge us more for it. Sure, you can have your immersive universe, for an additional fee.
I'm sorry CCP, I almost bought into all your fanfest speeches over the years telling us just how hard you work, but I mean, look at BSGO, made by that awful company BigPoint. The games been out about two months, a browser based game, with ship decals, and *gasp* walking in stations. It's just not that hard.
I will be joining the protest by cancelling my accounts. If/When CCP responds to the situation they have created (real knack for screwing up their own stuff), then I will of course resub.

I've heard this post in so many games before....and wow....They are still here....who knew that such a whiny proportion would not only have any effect on the devs and game play, but also have no effect on actual subscriptions, (so reminds me of AO adding advertising billboards to the game)

Perhaps a tiny portion of forum lurkers, but I believe more people are upset about this than you know, or are making out to know. I have friends who cancelled their sub before I did because of this issue.

Plex was a way for CCP to fight RMT but CCP took the lazy way with it and used it as their 'main' weapon against RMT. They were happy to let it run rampant through the economy because they got $$ for something that A) didn't cost what they charged and B) didn't have to 'give' anything away for it at the time, it was extra $$ on top of subscriptions.
MT are here because CCP wants more money on top of subscriptions, plex sales and they need to mess around with MT for DUST and WOD which will net them income from MT. Why do they 'want' more money, greed, over extending themselves with DUST and WOD, etc.

I think PLEX turned out alright, and definitely got rid of the ISK spammers. I agree with what you're saying. I don't believe EVE should be ruined for the sake of some extra income to put towards other games.
