I'd have to agree with a lot of people here; I've been just fine with MT currently being implemented, i.e. shiny/useless, but if they let people buy sp, I'd have to quit. It just ceases to become worth playing when you don't have wads of cash to throw around.

I agree - even if it were thought about before I think it is now far too controversial and unpopular to be implemented.
But Khanid, what do you think might be implemented? There were other things talked about, such as faction standings (which you can already buy through the RL->PLEX->Data centre route), or fittings slots. Where do you think the line might be drawn?
It is difficult to say, cash for standings was a surprise to me, but I still think having read the suggestion in context that it was just a 'what if' thing rather than an announcement that it was actually going to happen.
I mean let's be perfectly clear, in the same article, the same Dev said something along the lines of 'a pair of sunglasses shouldn't cost the same as a faction battleship' and if anything the monocle actually costs about 1.5 times a pirate faction BS.
So meh... it's hard to say what might happen on the basis of that article as even what was said in that article has subsequently turned out to be different to what has happened.
If cash for SP were to happen, then imo that would be CCP's NGE moment, and a lot of older players would walk permanently and not even bother to rage. It might not kill the game (I know when I was a noob I would have leapt at the chance to buy sp) but the game would fundamentally and permanently change at that point.
I am more than prepared to put my money where my mouth is and put some money with a 3rd party betting it would never happen... if the OP is interested (personally I think the OP is just trying to troll by implication). Any amount the OP puts in I would match up to a figure of say... 5B? Would offer more but a lot of my isk is tied up atm.
As I have said elsewhere I am personally pro MT (micro, not macro), as long as items introduced are destructible and tradeable. I think it would be good for the game (new content) and I think CCP is being short sighted by making the monocle for instance indestructible... it makes (to me) WiS seem as if it is moving to a WoW model, which imo is just terrible.
I am up for super ammo (there was a time when faction ammo could have been called the same), I am up for noobs being able to buy faction revenauts (to pad my kill stats obviously), and I am up for new / better mods etc that are only available through the Noble store - as long as they are tradeable. I mean lets be perfectly clear there are already super mods in game, gist x-types etc that people can buy via plex... does it change anything? No it doesn't.
My key beef with CCP is their communication issues and lack of interactivity with the player base. Since the CSM came along it seems as if CCP has given up trying to communicate with the playerbase at large and just tries to communicate with the CSM.. who can't relay stuff back to us because of their NDA, until CCP actually announces their plans as a firm policy.
Anyway I am sure you get my point, sorry for the wall of text.
What's the point of implementing it this way? We can already purchase PLEX, convert to ISK on the market, and then buy expensive modules. Am I missing something here?

Expected by whom ?

Could have fooled me...
Originally by: 0Lona 0ltor No selling Chars will still happen its just that now the price of a char will be fixed to the price of a CCP skill package
You mean, if this would ever happen, the price of characters will be TOP-CAPPED by the then-current ISK-to-PLEX-to-AUR-to-SP exchange rate chain.

A cultural footnote that I feel I must point out whenever somebody suggests that it's a good idea to make the game 'easier' to boost the subscriber base with more 'mainstream' gamers...
Remember what happened to Star Wars Galaxies.

Were you just trying to compare what amounts to a few bruises and maybe a sprained ankle (EVE-fails) with what amounts to a multi-limb amputation (SWG-NGE) ? Just to be clear : post-NGE SWG had very little in common with pre-CU SWG other than the "Star Wars" label and roughly the same graphical assets, even the basic gameplay was radically altered from the ground up. Do you have any idea just how bad the changes Sony made were ? They didn't just "make the game easier", they wiped most of the game off and replaced it with something else altogether, something that sucked HARD in comparison to what used to be available. _

i wouldn`t be surprised if OP is a CCP staff members in disguise , who is trying to make people get used with the "SP for real $$ via aurum shop" feature .
Stop making ******ed assumption , SP for real $$ there is already in Character Bazaar , anything more would make lots of people ragequit and would be a suicide move .
