Rumours of problems with investors, suggestions of further MT being brought forward. The assumed panic from CCP at the outcry/threats of unsubbing and possible failure of the NEX.
The question I think CCP need to answer first of all.
Is CCP financially secure?

Probably not. Give it a while at this rate, though, and they will be.
It's been a good run, guys. Maybe over the last 8 years the game you once loved has inspired someone competent.

other forums on similar topics quote CCP as being in debt to the tune of around 20million euro's. although im only transferring this information and its not my own.
Is not surprising considering Eve is the only cash cow they can milk, there other two games (dust and wood) have had a couple years of development now with no return at all. Considering this its not surprising that they are attempting to milk Eve even more to support their operations. Not surprising, but very disappointing. I can only assume eve players will get a years free subscription to ash or something.... <><><>Together we gank, devided we pop<><><><>

Edited by: Katrina Cortez on 24/06/2011 11:53:13 Honestly it seems to me like they bit off more than they could chew. They went for really high quality on Incarna. Those turrets were a lot of money too. They are funding 2 other games. They are trying to do cross platform gaming which ups the development costs on both Eve and Dust.
Now they just ****ed off their player base... not looking good

If you look at the average number of players on the servers the last few nights, I dont think they are exactly crying. RIFT cost them more subs than this "scandal"...

They need to stop making dust and focus on eve before ppl go to other space mmos coming out. If another one comes out that's just slightly better I'm done especially with how they treat their customers Killboard Link

Well considering the cos od game development and world wide finacial climate - they might be ...
Which would explain PS3 only for Dust and Nvidia logos poping up. They simply need cash from somewhere. And EVE comunity can provide only so much IRL cash per month. PLEX was a move in right direction, but not enough to finace world wide developement studios working on 3 games.
Logical move is to move away from allready financualy secured EVE and work more on side projects - cause EVE is fine right ?
Well after RMT store and Incarna not bringing anything to the table which resulted in MANY angry customers - I think this could really end badly for CCP and us as player base alike.

There are rumours that they're just about out of development cash and that nobody is currently that interested in investing more.
What that means for CCP depends on the attitude of current investors - who own a lot more of the comapny than they used to.

The whole making Dust 514 thing PS3 exclusive whiffs of them knowing that they couldn't break into the entire console market. Whether World of Darkness is a viable product is another thing entirely. You'll probably get the Twilight fangirls signing up, but the game play might not be to their taste.

No it doesn't. It means they have had some form of development "assistance" from Sony. Whether that's cash or engineering time/resources - I dunno.

Edited by: Katrina Cortez on 24/06/2011 12:10:46 Another platform would add more development cost... plus MS doesnt seem too interested for security (as well as other) reasons.

True, I wouldn't trust Sony as far as I could throw them though.

you realize there's good chance it's their investissors who asked them to do it right ? and you know you can't say not to an investissor... seems obvious that if dust is ps3 exclusive it's for that reason for example...
from what i read, a big issue is the plex stockpile ; they can't count them on their wallet when it's on our hangar, they need them to be used (and aurum was created as a way for that). there's lots of money lying of stockpiled plex, but they can't claim it until is it used, and that's a big problem for them.

CCP has about 600 employees with about 60 mil a year in revenue (Euros). That should be cash flow positive, but just barely. I think they're investing heavily (ie, hiring and paying a lot of folks) in their new games, but EVE should be able to keep bringing in enough money to pay for it all.
I think this microtransaction business was just a bone-headed idea. The best thing we can do is simply just not use it. Don't buy Aurum. Don't buy the stupid clothes, or the monacle. CCP will get the message and not spend any more time on this stuff....
They already allow you to buy ships for real life money - it's called PLEX. It's actually a great idea as it keeps a lid on isk farmers by giving players a legit way to buy isk. And since all that isk just goes to pay for other people's subs, it should't cause too much inflation.
Sit tight, hang back, have another drink. I know the guys in iceland can't seem to keep away from the bottle...

How could CCP be in financial trouble?
Their Chief Financial Officer has many raving successes under his belt, such as playing a part in running 3rd largest bank in the U.S to the ground. With these merits I'm sure he can save CCP without breaking a sweat, right?
... Right?

My guess would be that developing two new games financed by Eve income has proven to be a little too optimistic.

Allegedly they haven't been cash flow positive for a very long time. The shareholding is radically different to that of a few years ago.
No way of telling really from the outside unless you want to go digging and frankly I cba to look. I just don't care enough to bother now.
