Hello to every1!
Yesterday I lost my ship (an Omen) in a lvl 2 mission! I just started to do them (3rd in the row) and in that mission I didn't have the time to wrap out.
Anyway, I want to get a new ship and I don't which one! Lets say I am quit new player (5.3mil sp)and not to much ISK (But I can be patient and gather them from lvl1 missions and PI). What do you suggest? Maybe take an Omen again? Or a Maller? I also learning skills to get a Battle cruiser but they are not for my wallet right now.
PS: I am sticking to Ammar Ships cause I have those skills. PS2: Also, i want it only for Missions, I am avoiding PVP like hell currently :)
Ty for your time!

Id use a Maller (OMG that new hull looks good), it has a better tank than the Omen and so is a bit more forgiving until you get the hang of the missions. - Nulla Curas |

Edited by: Geldar Wroontik on 24/06/2011 11:21:47 As the poster above me said, the Maller would be your best option for the moment. I love the Omen, but it has such a paper-thin tank that you really need to be careful when you're flying it. The Maller may not hit as hard as the Omen but it has a thicker tank, and would serve you well when you're learning the ropes of L2s.
Once you have the money for it you can always move up to a battlecruiser (probably a Prophecy - cheaper of the two and has the thick tank). I used a battlecruiser for a while doing L2s; it's overkill, but it's so much easier than using a cruiser ---

As a side note, if you are having issues in a mission, always align back to your station as soon as you warp in... no time needed to warp out and you are already moving at speed to minimise incoming DPS

I was thinking why it took me so much time to wrap out yestarday. I thought this for a solution, but i had no idea if it helps. Thanks, i will try it.
Thanks all of you for the infos! I will go for the Maller (It also looks pretty cool with the new update :))
And thanks ChromeStriker, i will try that fit list. I always checking through Battle clinic (via EVEMon), but most of them for PVE are pretty old.

For missions, you will generally want an active armor tank and not a buffer tank like the fit posted above, unless you really know what you are doing. An active armor tank for a cruiser involves a medium armor repairer, about 2 armor hardeners of the required resistances (em & thermal for sansha for example) and enough cap recharge (capacitor rechargers in the midslots, capacitor power relay in the lowslots) to keep it all running. That should be more then sufficient for lvl 2 missions

It wasn't Recon 1/3 mission by accident? It's not meant to fight, just use the jumpgate.

I've been using a Rupture without much trouble, but that's minmatar.

LEarn drones and go with the arbitrator, easy lvl1 and lvl2s, lvl3s well possible with better skills:) @ChromeStriker: get some hardeners instead of omni and buffer (plates) tank, u dont pvp with the maller. The same goes for the trimark, stable tank over time is the way to go in pvp, not more buffer tank.
I didnt loose an Omen but well im having more fun with the arbitrator now while grinding rep now, though im doing mostly the epic arc i also did some lvlII missions on my way and it was awesome!

As un-Amarrian as it is, a passive shield tank arbitrator is almost impossible to beat as far as T1 Amarr cruisers go... However, the Omen Navy Issue is quite nice, albeit expensive (I paid 80mil for mine). Oh, and whatever you do, DO NOT fit armor plates on a mission ship. Use repairers and work on your cap skills to keep it and your guns running. Best bet would likely to be to step up to a Harbinger ASAP as it yields the best bang for buck when it comes to Amarr mission ships, barring level 4 missions and battleships of course, the Apocalypse is great for that, especially with tech 2 guns.

The Arbitrator much better than any of the other Amarr T1 cruisers by a mile. To use it effectively you'll need to train up T2 light drones. This will take over a week but you will need T2 drones anyways. Once you graduate to a Harbinger you'll be thankful to have them.
The shield tank option is probably a better choice. You don't need T2. 50-100k SP in shields should be more than enough for L2 missions.

overall the caracal with assault launchers is best lvl2 mission runner, but for Amarr the Omen is a good ship

I've flown all three in missions. The Arbitrator is very comparable to a Caracal if not better. Only problem is that it takes 4x as many SP to get the same damage. In other words a Caldari pilot will be in a Drake by the time you can effectively fly an Arbitrator. The Omen is pure garbage, especially for a low SP player.
Amarr need a decent low SP missions cruiser. It can be very disheartening for a new player to find out you've got to wait a week to continue progress in a game. It might push some to take up PvP but for those new to sandbox games this will just feel broken and ill-designed =/quit.

I'm curiuos to where you sank all your SPs? At 5mil+ sp, you could be in a full t2 (bar weapons) Abaddon, breezing lvl 4s.
Anyway - OnT: I suggest you try to get into a Harbinger asap, if you want to run missions. I did lvl 2s in both Omen and later Maller (the Omen was a bit thin, at least back then, and with low drone skills, it's not outdamaging the Maller by a lot) but once I got into a Harbinger (even at low BC skill - should only take a day or so), the difference was huge. So, do your lvl 2s in a Harby. It is very fast to get into one, and you will make up the training time quickly.
Good luck!
