Edited by: MurKoN Kador Mahyisti on 24/06/2011 11:24:33 I have just spent the last 3 days reading as many posts as I can to keep up with how people feel about the recent events in EVE and to compare with my own feelings over all this.
I couldn't help noticing a definate divide between many posters, obviously there has always been and always will be opposing people against anything that is posted in any forum, that is how democracy is used online, and I dont mean the normal divide that there always has been! ...this divide is kind threatening to the game than many of the people can't actually see. Long time EVE players (veterans) leaving the game due to leaked docs etc, they are posting their reason for leaving (which is respected by many other vets) but there is this repeated shyte about: Good ridence, who cares, we dont need you, space will be less cluttered etc etc, "you know the regular shyte replies thats posted", but this time it's different, people are actually leaving the game for real, this is serious and were not talking 1 or 2 either! and if you think that this aint going to have any impact on EVE Online then you are just wrong people!
Only a certain % of EVE pilots actually read the forums and if everyone was aware of the outrage throughout the community there would be alot more support for these vets that have made EVE Online what it is today!

Funny you think there's a divide, I've never seen so much unified disgust in all my time as a player.

Maybe I didn't explain well enuff, I knew what I was trying to say but not fab at typing it on e-paper!
I just think these idiots really need to sit down and actually think about what they're gunna say as this is serious stuff!

No he is right, the vets who have seen too much versus newer players and some older players with the attitude of wait and see. The bitter vets cannot see anything but the darkest and most evil and corrupt of motives in anything said or done by CCP. Those not so disenchanted are willing to see what CCP says and to concede that most likely this news letter was the beginning of talks about MT internally not the conclusion. And frankly, with the bitterness I see from some of them Eve may not be better off with them gone, but some of them would see a definite improvement in mental and emotional health. ***By coffee alone I set my mind in motion, by the beans of Java thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning, by coffee alone I set my mind in motion.*** |

The divide is the amount of time played. Newer players won't mind as much, there's not much in it for them anyway. Older players (probably already starting at 3 months and older) will see their invested time and subscription being turned into a meaningless memory.

Edited by: Whitehound on 24/06/2011 11:37:21 My thoughts on this as well. CCP can create a new slogan:
EVE Online. One server. One universe. Two class community.
We used to look down on players who bought ISKs from goldsellers. We then got the PLEX, which gives us free play in return for having those players around who need to cheat by throwing more and more money at their game. It was a fair deal for us.
Now, however, are those players who we looked down upon treated like first class customers, and soon we have to watch them parade around on stations in fancy clothes, wearing monocles, and receiving better looking ships and what not than the rest of us.
I really thought that CCP had some vision. Now I am back to thinking: I have played one MMO to its last day, and this is going to be my second one. --

I'm pretty sure that eventually, that is all these players will be doing, parading around in stations, as hunting NEX customers will become the new sport.

Which will be the new part of EVE I am sure: There will be players that live in space doing PEW PEW and There will be players that live in stations doing BLING BLING (check out my crib, I have a new TV, Look at my 23 pole dancers, oh did i mention i have extended rooms on my crib, look at my pool, oh and i have a sports room where we can play DUST on CQstation (TM) These will just be the BOTS/Exploiters and scammers that are already in place I would imagine)
But what I am hoping is that the new comers and no carers will try understand what exactly is happening hear and keep the dumb replies away from forums and actually think sensible!

Will? We've already issued KOS orders against NEX customers
hunting NEX customers *is* the new sport. =========================

Any sense of a divide is one CCP will want to foster.
If we are at each others throats, we aren't all at CCP's.
They are trying to spin this as a comms / price tweaking issue. The onus is on us to keep them honest on true intent.
