Rode the Six Hundred.
"Forward, the Spaceship Game!
"Charge for the Noble Exchange!" Hilmar said:

Rode the Six Hundred.

Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the workers knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and code:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the Six Hundred.
Flames to right of them,
Flames to left of them,
Flames in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Yell'd at with flame and Hell,
Boldly they code and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the Six Hundred.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the players there,
Charging a loyal base, while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the flame-smoke
Right thro' the sandbox they broke;
Carebear and Pirate
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the Six Hundred.
Flames to right of them,
Flames to left of them,
Flames behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Yell'd at with flame and Hell,
While dev and game fell,
They that had coded so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of Six Hundred.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild Spaceship Game they made!
All the world wondered.

P funny considering the original was commissioned as DCII for a shocking blunder spear-headed by arrogance, incompetence and disregard for reality.

It does rhyme, just not in the places you expected. There are all sorts of rhyme rules for poems.

Perhaps I overestimated the historical/cultural knowledge of the EVE community when I took a poem from 1854 and changed a few words around

That one has an impossibly strict rhyming scheme, but I'll think about it over the weekend.
