I think that this thread is actually having the opposite effect that it was intended.... and here's why. Eve has over 350,000 subscribers. If in all its fury eve community looses 10,000 players in rage, it still has over 340,000 subscribers, so who cares if 10,000 players leave. It makes the puny number of unsubscribers look trivial. (I remember when there were only 30,000 subscribers in the entire game!).
If this is the worst of it then no big deal. They will fix the glitches and will probably get even more subscribers than was lost.
This thread should die.
oh... and can I have your stuff? Please send ingame isk to Yuuknow. Thanks!

87,000.00 USD lossed revenue per month against the 5.25 million they pull off each month with 350,000 subscribers is only about a 1.7% loss. 1.7% doesn't matter to a company that makes millions a month. They'll be looking at the long term effects these next few months. If players continue to desubscribe every month for a continual downward rend, then it "MIGHT" matter.
I support this thread, but I don't think it will make a damn bit of difference to CCP. I've lost faith in their management completely. I feel sorry for the Devs who are just along for the ride, it seems that even their opinons didn't matter in the face of projected numbers in profit after the release of MT. Management decided to back this convoluted nonsense that their new supposed marketing "professionals" spewed about MT heaven, individuals who had only been hired for less than a year, over Developers who had been with the company since it's inception.

peak numbers last weekend hardly looked any different than the last 6 months average.
will check to see if this weekends is any different.
So far i would say everyone that's quitting barely ever played anyway, or plenty of new people are taking their place.

That's where you're wrong. The loss in revenue won't make a damned bit of difference, as I stated, but the social loss is enormous. Loss in faith, the breakdown of relationships, these play a role in the future of EVE's community. If people keep disapearing off the map, namely KEY people (corporation owners, leaders of pilots) then it will have an exponentially greater effect on the community.
CCP doesn't acknowledge this, and it will ultimately lead to more loss in core subscribers.
For example, there are pockets of space that until recently were very busy, pockets that are now devoid of any life. PvPers are now being made to suffer from lack of action, so you can see how this can lead to more loss of interest in EvE.

i have 3 articles on CCP org one from last year (shows good side of eve and the game) other two previous month on CCP and greed and how they don't seem to give a hoot about players and how they seem to be changing direction

Edited by: buee on 18/08/2011 03:12:52 EvE is a social game, as was always intended by CCP when EvE was first conceived. A small amount of subscribers by themselves may mean nothing when one views the fabric of eve. They are like bits of thread pulled from the tapestry; the majority remains mostly beautiful.
But I guess that CCP forgot that the social fabric of EvE is very much made up of these intertwining threads of relationships - while a few missing might not seem to matter now, the tapestry will slowly begin to unravel if not soon mended.
I hope you do not find my simple analogy too hard to grasp.
Developers, I hope you will continue to express your opinions on this matter.

If you ask me its more like
55,000 people used to log in on the weekends, 45000 on weekdays, now its like 40k/30k. A lot more than 1.7% of the daily server population is missing.
Its not SWG yet... . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

I don't know a company that would not get at least a bit concerned when they lost 1.7% of their revenue tbh.
And it's prolly more than 1.7%, most ppl that unsub don't post here.

Hooked on the forums sure. Spending a tiny fraction of my total isk reserves every few months to come here and lulz at guys like you is cheap.
Hooked on the game? Nope. Thats why I'm -5 active subs as I don't play anymore.
I'm just playing other games and waiting on ccp to get past its carebear expansion phase and put resources back into the things that matter to me.
So, U mad?

I especially like the part about demanding more from expansions for your money... because CCP charges for their expansions, like every other MMO. Oh, wait, that's right. They don't. They could, but they do not. Every game / developer has its faults. If you don't like the game, or need a break, stop playing. Trolling on the forums accomplishes what? CCP, like all devs, knows that a small minority of players post on forums and as such are not a representative sampling of all players.

Actually with all the blow hards that have posted on EVE-O forums over the years about how they would fix this and that or how they would have done it better in teh first place, you would think that some of them would have gone on to publish a similar game with space ships. Some would say that is what Perpetuum is, but those are not space ships, they are mechs. Well just maybe in the near future I just may be able to play EVE the way it was supposed to be back in 05
