ok ccp, charging for third party apps was dumb
Lying to your customer base and then getting caught made me qustion your intellegence as well as your integrity,
However creating a martyr for the forums to rally around? This is your Star Wars Galaxies moment and your failing badly.
One question is any action being taken to those members of your team whose trolling of help caused this situation?
I expect your all to busy logging into employment sites and looking at job prospects to actually try some decent PR, cos if this keeps up Eve, WoD and Dust are all consigned to the graveyard of mmo games whose companies failed to listen to their fan base.
Honestly the arrogance is quite breathtaking. when the company you work for is completly sold off(instead of just leaking shares to raise capital) and new management pick apart the bones of what went wrong will they want the people who so completly failed to deal with this issue on board?

He was banned for showing the public what they really needed to see, and which has outraged so many still to this day! WTF!!!
Of course he is going to be angry after being banned, and yes when people are angry they say the stupid things, this is exactly why CCP have kept quiet for so long waiting for people to calm down, then they ban someone that was angy in a petition!, they should have been a bit more relaxed on this guy TBO, ok ok, he broke the rules, but he was pushed into a corner here!
:::OOPS, THINGS ARE GOING TO HEAT UP NOW:::

Can someone enlighten me as to what the RL threat was. Saying that death by fire is too quick for someone is an extremely unpleasant sentiment but it is not a threat. Was there something else I missed?

Ok, since you think so maybe a forum ban, but a permaban from the game ban? You can't argue that being a jerk is grounds for a permaban. We're all jerks to some extent in game.

Her/his attittudes in game and outside game pretty much reflects why she/he got banned. Lack of respect for any person. Though CCP might be killing their own game we must remmber we are customers and not owners of the game. If they want to **** it up entirely, thats their decision.
Yea we spent years on it etc etc blablabla so what? When you read the EULA you realize they can unplug the servers tomorrow if they want to. She/he always thought too high of her/himself as a demigod. Now she/he burns in hell not as a martyr, but as the same like of real money buyers, hackers and exploiters.
Good riddance Felicity Blossom AND do some therapy before going back to an online game.

Ok wtf:
"Die in a fire" told to a person is a freaking real life threat. Dont deny that (referring to the blog) I read what the document and say: You deserve the ban. Being angry is NO FREAKING REASON to be abusive.
This is the internet you WRITE stuff out so you have more than one option of NOT SENDING abusive words. If you told someone in real life to DIAF you might get be charged for it, why should it be different in an envitronment where you CAN NOT speak without thinking? like a forum? you should always think about what you write and being banned for a Threat like that is completely justified.

We know that most likely won't happen, but in reality they deserve such. So far everyone I know in-game could care less, as long as they can still pew pew to their hearts content. The people posting in these rage threads have never grown up.

Having skimmed throu the text of the petition, I to find it difficult to find a RL threat, although i do see virtual threat of action against CCP. He never said he was going to physically be near or come to CCP to actually inflict damage directly upon a person.
Although death by fire are words i certainly wouldnt of choosen, i think it is more of an internet expression, so unless he has a match that can reach across oceans or a pet dragon, i view their grounds of permabanning him/her quite unreasonable.

Helicity wanted to be banned and took steps in that effort.
He's not being a noble hero, he is throwing a temper tantrum because getting banned helps his "cause". ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

I think the issue here is that "DIAF" has been thrown around the forums from before this Incarna rage and we weren't seeing permabans... It's an expression that for better or for worse has become part of our lexicon here. I agree that real life threats are to be taken seriously. I'm not seeing how anyone can take "DIAF" seriously NOW when it's not been taken seriously prior to this incident.

These people are still human beings despite our anger.
Saying dying in a fire is too good for someone isn't a very nice thing to say over a video game.

"Die in a fire" is a hopeful wish not a threat.
"I will burn you alive" is a threat.

I would agree that it is unpleasant and abusive, and perhaps merits some kind of ban on that basis, but wishing someone ill and threatening someone are two different things. Saying 'drop dead' is not the same as saying 'I'm going to kill you'.

I'm sorry, but telling someone to die in a fire (an expression of disgust at something they have done) is not the same thing as saying you are going to make them die in a fire (a threat). Sorry, but if you are not intelligent enough to see the difference (and apparently some CCP Employees actually DO lack that level of intelligence), I suggest that you climb up out of your mothers basement and go back to school and grow a brain.
-3 accounts. Ban MY former CEO? I'm out. And no, you can't have my stuff. I'll biomass it all before giving it away to some subhuman knuckle scraping troll's child. -
