I have to say this has no become the worst screw up in MMO history, CCP have successfully eclipsed even SOE's screw up with Star Wars Galaxies. I lived through it, I should know, I am now both a bitter SWG veteran and a bitter Eve veteran. It's funny how things come full circle.
CPP has committed a classic blunder. The most well known is to never get involved in a land war in Asia, the second and only slightly less well known is to never abandon your current subscribers for vaporous new subscribers.
Is it not clear that CCP wishes for a new playerbase, apparently they are tired of the current veterans.
Congratulations CCP, over the last five years you have gone from one of the most respected and loved game developers to not even being comparable to chicken excrement, but rather the little white spec on top of chicken excrement.
Enjoy your failure.

Funny how better communication and not insulting the playerbase, which I agree seems to be taking a backseat to the next generation playerbase, could have mitigated this screwup.
It's NOT what they did, it's HOW they keep doing it..hour by hour..
..much like an ostrich in a burning EVE sandbox!
