So I am reading a bunch of people *****ing about what exactly? The price of Aurum? What the **** is that? Does Aurum buy you new ships? Special Aurum-Only ships? Special hi-grade ammo? What does it buy? What the **** is all this talk of people un-subbing over it?
Someone care to give me a tl;dr of all this whimsical drama?
Because if what I have briefly skimmed is correct, people are complaining and unsubbing their accounts over Aurum, which as far as I know only buys different clothes and has no effect whatsoever on your character, other than an in-station appearance (which, by the way, only you can see, as the public areas are not yet unlocked). Noone is forcing you to buy Aurum, so whats all the fuss really about?

Edited by: Nullity on 25/06/2011 03:55:47 A CCP leaked document discussed how to implement game-affecting MTs into EVE. CCP has yet to say they won't do this. Meanwhile:
-They insulted the community with the $99 fiasco. -Most of the content in EVE is withering away. -The last update lacks content entirely. -The vanity MTs in the game have ridiculous prices. -The Captain's Quarters literally melts computers.

Document leaked was essentially a repeat of the argument from 2010 discussing same issue - ccp appear to be doing it their way. then ccp pann made a weak defense - more rage then ccp zulu posted a shut up and deal with reply - more rage then ccp hilmar emailed some people (i dont know who) saying all good ignore the angry folk theyll get over it - more rage.

Can you please elaborate? People are *****ing about overpriced special clothes, and claim its MT? Im confused. A game such as League of Legends is supported purely by Micro Transactions. Eve is a monthly subscription, therefore they are not pushing people to buy these special clothing accessories for PLEX cards.
I am utterly dumbfounded at this cluster**** of a drama bomb.

The general gist of it is that CCP, at one point, swore they would never even consider MT for items that affect gameplay. When the Fearless internal document was leaked and demonstrated that non-aesthetic MT's were being discussed, people took that as a brech of trust. Combined with the tactless leaked email from whatshisnuts and the implication that CCP will be ignoring player concerns over the projected direction of MT's, many players just said **** it and ragequit.

This *was* a good summary, but the situation has deteriorated significantly since it was authored.

TL;DR = We have a vision, this vision see's you as nothing but a cash cow to be exploited. our research and experience tells us you will roll over and accept it while we ignore you, assassinate you, and implement game breaking MT while we stay the course. The file size of your signature is too large. Please use a smaller file - Failout |

from what i have skimmed, it would seem that their internal fearless newsletter was designed to internally discuss the extreme ends of conditions and whatnot. It's not a devblog, its not items in development; theyre ideas loosely based on the utter extremes. for example, someone says smoking kills. everyone stops smoking because it kills. what people dont realize is that smoking has the potential to kill in some cases.
it sounds to me like everyone is blowing an internal document extremely out of proportion; much like the ideas in said document are meant to be viewed from, the extreme ends. the 1 in a million cases. not the everyday happenings.
also, can someone please show me a single expansion release that did not have launch issues?
